A gym nemesis pushes a fitness influencer to the max in Amy Lea’s steamy debut romantic comedy.

Curvy fitness influencer Crystal Chen built her career shattering gym stereotypes and mostly ignoring the trolls. After her recent breakup, she has little stamina left for men, instead finding solace in the gym–her place of power and positivity.

Enter firefighter Scott Ritchie, the smug new gym patron who routinely steals her favorite squat rack. Sparks fly as these ultra-competitive foes battle for gym domination. But after a series of escalating jabs, the last thing they expect is to run into each other at their grandparents' engagement party.

In the lead up to their grandparents' wedding, Crystal discovers there’s a soft heart under Scott’s muscled exterior. Bonding over family, fitness, and cheesy pick-up lines, they just might have found her swolemate. But when a photo of them goes viral, savage internet trolls put their budding relationship to the ultimate test of strength.

Irritating Main Character

Man this was really annoying, the book did have a good message but the main character was really a royal pain
The story is about Crystal, who she identifies as a curvy fitness influencer and tries to convince us she really doesn't care about her body, but the thing is .. she does .. very much.. and she is really starving to get some that she basically attacked Scott, a guy she doesn't know in the gym and kissed him senseless .. did I mention she is supposed to hate him ?
after that kiss she throws all her insecurities on poor Scott who tries with everything in his power to make her see that he does care about her, how does Crystal reply ? but sexually teasing him but when he tells her he wants to date her she tells him (she's not emotionally ready ? )
MAKE UP YOUR MIND WOMAN !!!
god this book was irritating and I really didn't care for Crystal and her drama without any good reason..
such a waste of time

Too Boring to Finish

Boring and plotless. I skipped ahead to see if it got better but it doesn't appear to. I'm returning. I'd skip this one if I were you.

Sub-Par

I really wanted to like this book. I did. I love fitness and am constantly working out and trying to better myself. I also quite enjoy contemporary romance. But... man this book didn't hit. I kept waiting for the moment where I wouldn't want to pause it and it never happened.
The reader's voice just isn't for me. Not a lot you can do about it.
But the story is boring. I struggle to sympathize because Chris is hypocritical over and over again. And it's not a characteristic I want in a protagonist. Even if people in real life are like this... I read to escape real life. Not read about a character who would annoy me in real life.

A bit slow

This story didn’t really progress. It was the same issue the whole time and it had nothing to do with the romance.

Slow Burn…

But worth it! I liked the body positivity aspects of this book, but I also liked that she had some doubt too and how she learned that was ok.

Cute! But the sequel is better

I read these books out of order. They are both good, and I really dig Amy Lea’s refreshing takes on classic tropes. But the sequel Exes and Os is a better story and the narrator is better. Read both!

The best!!

I listened to this on Audible in less than a day cause it is
SO GOOD!!! I have no words to describe how much I loved it! I saw a lot of myself in Crystal and her struggles.
And every time one of her instagram posts showed up in the book, I cried because it was so relatable! Also, her and Scotty were the cutest and funniest couple of all time. I definitely recommend reading this book
