How to Successfully Combat Extremists for Dummies

As a Catholic Christian who grew up attending weekly mass, was married and raised 4 children in the church, taught CCD (Catholic Religious Education) for 20+ years, am a current Girl Scout troop leader (for the past 30 years and counting) who took all 4 of my troops through each level's religious awards, this book (& Popes Francis and Leo) all restored my faith in my faith!! I could NOT reconcile the hold this current administration (both in 2016-2020 and again today) FALSELY CLAIMED they had on Christianity. Literally everything I have spent the last 60 years of my life believing I understood what the Gospel preached, was coopted by those who were the literal antithesis of Jesus' teachings. This book was EXCELLENT & has since given me the tools to combat those "false prophet's" with actual scripture and verse!! I can't recommend this book enough!! THANK YOU, MR. FUGELSANG!!

Separation of Church and Hate

A book for our time. Author makes the case for the teachings of Jesus - love and compassion for all - over their misrepresentation and deliberate manipulation of those teachings as fostered by many who call themselves “Christian”. This book is an invaluable guide to helping sort out, citing chapter and verse, the true message of Christianity as found in the Bible. It’s not a dry treatise, but written in a conversational style that’s easy to follow and listen to.

The clarity and humor of this book hits home

I was raised by devoted church going parents. I memorized selected Bible verses. Being a bookish kid, I eventually read the more than the memorized versus and I studied world history. This book clearly lays out all that confused me as a young person and kept me confused through most of my life.

Absolutely Right-on

This book is timely and much needed. I used to believe some of the things John debunks in this book, but that was a long time ago (thank the Lord). GOD IS LOVE. If you have Christian Nationalist or hard-core Evangelical friends or family members, you need to read this.

Common sense

We don’t need organized religion to be decent human beings. As an adult raised in a very catholic family I find this book reassuring to my long held doubts.
