JUST what I needed!!

I used to be very confident and happy and resilient. Over the past couple of years, I’ve been going through a lot of problems mainly stemming from the way I think.

After reading time of books and doing many expensive online courses, I saw a brand new documentary of an Irish MMA fighter and his success story was AWESOME!

And during the film I realized that some of the main reasons he was so confident, happy, and successful at winning UFC fights were:

1) He was often self-talking aloud at how strong he was getting, how he was the best fighter in his weight class, and more. Yet it was beyond elaborate and I saw that both internal and aloud, this guy was psyching himself until and telling him great things about himself, his actions, his goals, and more.

2) He was constantly visualizing himself winning the next fight, and he even got as detailed as visualizing what his opponents facial expression would be at the beginning of Round 1.

After watching 5 years of this guys life being successful in his career, in his relationship, and in so many other life areas, I was so inspired because I wanted to cultivate that champion mindset and self talk he used.

I was then reminded of another audible I listened to recently where the author was an ex Navy Seal, and this guy attributed much of his success leading Seal teams in training and on missions to self talk, visualizing, and breathing patterns.

Okay now for my book review:

SELF TALK WAS ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!!!

It was JUST what I needed and I listened to the entire audible on a night walk.

Straight to the point without a bunch of fluff, this book changed my life forever.

I mean seriously...

It was so practical and easy to follow and I know starting right now I’ll be able to start practicing these strategies and my confidence and resiliency and happiness will hit all time highs!

I seriously can’t recommend the book enough. Take it from a guy that has read hundreds and hundreds of non fiction books and many in the personal development/psychology genres....if you aren’t already using self talk as a powerful resource to make you totally kick butt emotionally and mentally in life, then but this book now and listen to it right away.

You’ll be glad you did.

This is something I’ll be listening to over and over, taking notes on, studying, and making this skill a deeply engrained habit

Can you see how excited I am just pondering the possibilities of using these simple skills?

I can guarantee you this book will be getting way more 5 stars and peoples lives will change dramatically when using the tips you’ll learn in Self Talk.

I usually don’t purchase books without any reviews but I liked the Sample audio passage and for a few bucks it was a no brainer to buy it and see how it was.

Next time I will listen to it at home with a notepad and pen because this is seriously going to be a skill I master.

Many thanks to Aston Sanderson for writing this and turning it into an Audible.

Decent but not particularly deep

I found the book to have decent and practical advice. However, I find the book lacking in the depth of the insight or of truly innovative approaches to positive thinking. If you're new to concept of neuroplasticity, this book is probably a good start. If you're already down the road and seeking insight into lasting optimism, you'll likely not find very much useful here.

To much repeating

I had a hard time with this audio book. I found that constant repeating of the same line very distracting and annoying. I also was not a fan of the narrator. I have to say I really enjoyed Aston Sanderson other book "Small talk: How to talk to people and improve your charisma and social skills..." so I thought this book would be good too. I also really liked the the narration in the other book Connie Philips did a great job to bad she didn't read this one it might have helped. I was gifted this book with the understanding I would leave an honest review.

Good reflections about your inner voice

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Of course! It's a short book, but that doesn't mean that it's shallow. It's really focused on showing problems and possible solutions, so it' s a great listen that help anyone to deal with their inner voice.

Who was your favorite character and why?

There was only one character, the narrator.

What does Randal Schaffer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It's a solid reading, easy to listen, but I don't think that it has a great difference from just reading the book

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Not aplicable, not that type of book.

Any additional comments?

Aston got a real pearl right here, it's a powerfull book that goes against the trend of positive thinking, with many reasons explained on why it chooses to do that. I am looking forward to listen to it more times, and would recommend to anyone who has troubles dealing with their inner voice.

traded book for review and couldn't be happier

Great points and the way they are delivered and absorbed are almost subconscious. I let the book play when i go to bed, I don't recall anything vividly but I do find myself checking my thoughts and what they are saying.

Concise and helpful

I have heard these strategies before but I really like the concise description in this book. If you find yourself slipping into negativity or negative self talk, this serves as a good reminder strategies to pull you out of that mindset.

A Very Good Book

This book was well written It was also a very useful book with great ideas. I liked it better than most self help books I’ve read during my life. I will continue to reread this book as needed.
