Excellent AudioBook

This is one of the best non-fiction books self-help books I've read in a long time. It is healing and thought provoking. I keep recommending it or thinking about people I should recommend it to when I see them. It has helped me to be more self compassionate, and really helped all my relationships as I find my compassion for others has expanded. Now as a parent and teacher I realize why just trying to raise self esteem does not work, and how teaching self compassion can. If you have read a lot of self help books you find it rare to run across new information that really changes your life, but this audiobook is filled with ideas that have brought peace into my life.

Down to earth

Great info on a subject that can get too granola. She pulls in all current science and makes "Self-Compassion" make sense to the modern day human. About two weeks into listening the audiobook and doing a few of the exercises my co-worker started asking me why I was in a good mood. It really lightens the load in a realistic way. Some of the stories are a bit long winded but the info is solid and grounded in reality. Great audiobook! Will definitely turn your life around!

Relieved my anxiety

I'm a perfectionist and when things don't go as planned, I get anxious. I tend to beat myself up, which only makes the anxiety worse. I'd listen about being kind to yourself, but I didn't know HOW. This audiobook gave me the techniques and helped relieve my anxiety. Now, when something unplanned or unexpected happens, I acknowledge that I'm having a hard time (instead of dismissing it), treat myself as I would a good friend (I deserve kindness just like everyone else does), and remind myself that I'm not alone (we're all human). It may sound simple, but when you grow up without self-soothing skills, learning what you can actually do is a blessing. :) I also liked how the author wrote about her own experience; I could relate to a lot of it, so that was a plus.

I have been following...she is amazing! She has the unique ability to make us all feel more comfortable in our our skin. She breaks down some common problems listening how we relate to ourselves & teaches us how to appreciate ourselves more. She teaches us healthier ways to relate to ourselves & others in simple, doable ways. The world would be a better place if this was required reading for everyone.

Why I can't call myself a terrible person anymore.

After listening this novel though I haven't been able to call myself a "terrible person" anymore without a huge grin on my face. All my friends think of it as a joke now. And the love I shared with them for years I now am working on sharing with myself. It has been so important in the journey of making myself whole. You made my life so much better.

Like sitting down and having a conversation

This audiobook is wonderful... Many people often put themselves down and are critical of every mistake they make in this life. My therapist recommended this audiobook to me and I listen it in almost one sitting. It has helped me think differently about myself and this change has in turn helped me to be more compassionate with other people. We are all in need of love and it does indeed start with learning how to love oneself.

Highly recommend it

Being positive in life brings you the best in life. I know this is true from first hand. I listen a lot of motivating books and books on the power of positive thinking because my mind tends towards the negative thoughts if I don't feed it with motivational books and talks. For this reason, I keep listening books on positivity. This one is a very good book on positive thinking and the many benefits it would bring you. I highly recommend it!

Very helpful guide

This book helped to remind me that although we cannot change our circumstances, we change how we react to them. I truly got a lot of value from what i listened. My favorite part of the book is where it talks about writing down and frequently reviewing your goals. It really opened my eyes and made me realize that I need to always be reviewing my goals so that i can stick to them and also to help boost my mood.

In this book, there were a lot of principles that I've learned or heard before but the way he teaches in the book is very unique and authentic in his own voice. Great listen.

Provide practical ways of living

The author expounds on biblical truths to provide practical ways of living them out so as to have a powerful life that comes from powerful thinking. I agree and believe that anyone who puts the suggestions in practice will come out a winner no matter what the results are. I like also that the book is interactive with relevant Internet links. I highly recommend and look forward to other books by this author.
