Where does Revenger rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

With Blue Remembered Earth, Reynolds created a high quality SciFi series. This book takes it to another level. Imagining a world without enzyme bonded concrete, but with magic, is refreshing. I like being surprised. As with Neal Stephenson, Reynolds has some standouts and some just good books. I hope he keeps this going. It would be a great counterpoint to the Poseidon's Children series.

Spoiler alert. The first encounter with the pirates was well done.

Good, Bad , Good.

Any additional comments?

Memo to Clare Corbett, and most other narrators: Please stop trying to sound like a man ( or woman, or whatever you aren't). Doing a husky breathy voice just sounds wrong, and takes you out of the narrative. Same for men trying to sound like a woman. The very worst was the narrator of Game of Thrones, who made a supposedly beautiful young woman sound like an old crone. Clare wasn't far behind at times, but fortunately as time went on she gave it up for the most part.

great story line as always from Reynolds. hints and echos of his other books in here too to listen for. could wait for my daily commute to find out what was going to happen next. the narrator did an excellent job, kind of hard to hear at first, but once you get used to her, it would be crazy to have anyone else be the voice Fura Ness.

Excellent story! Mostly good narration

Only problem was she was body hard to hear /understand at times. But don't let that app you, just turn it up!

The story was good enough. I liked the universe and the characters. The backstory and condition of the Galaxy could use more explanation. That's almost more fascinating than the story arc set within it. The story within this book resolved neatly enough, but there are still larger questions against the cosmic backdrop that I'd like to see answered. I would read more.

the narrator's voice is too soft and breathy. I had to turn the volume all the way up and still missed a good bit. earphones helped. I think the audio needs to be remixed.

can't bear to listen. what a shame

such an amazing writer, I have read or listened to every offerings. this one I will have to purchase paper to read as the orator is terrible. so much pitch modulation, I can't hear in my car, yet on headphones it goes from inexplicable whispering to jarring dialogues.... very sad. all other auduo books by this author were enjoyable to the fullest

Slow start, fascinating build, amazing closing

This was a struggle to start. The performance of Clare doesn't click to begin with, her accent more grating at first if you're unfamiliar with it. But by the time the plot gets going, and some proper 'revenging' goes into place, you won't even notice, nor will you care to remember. The world building is first rate, as you get pulled more into the setting than you dared to; you'll soon start thinking in the strange way as what passes for language in the world of Revenger.
I eagerly await a sequel.

Loose story

Perhaps it makes sense that the story seems so disjointed, given how it's presented...but it felt a bit all over the place. And I wanted more world building!!

Movie Trilogy?

I’ve read almost all Reynolds books and this is the most likely to be made into a big budget movie trilogy or streaming series. If the elephants of the last series of books made you fall asleep, but your love of Reynolds made you push on through, then this is your prize. Not as much hard science as his early works, but the playfulness of the character’s monologue is captivating and more than makes up for it. The narration was superb, one of the best I’ve heard.

Digressing future culture plot, very well written.

A high tech, interstellar pirate story. Full of adventure and interesting characters.
Great writing but not much science content.
This will make a great movie for the masses.

Begs for a sequel.

Good story. this one takes a while to get started but it's worth it to stick with it. if this is not the first in a series, the ending will seem to be missing something. There are so many loose ends in the story, so many potential story arcs that seem interesting and fascinating but are not even touched so far in the story that I will be disappointed if this is a one-off novel. It is the kind of Novel that will keep you listening and excited.
