Publisher's Summary

The eagerly awaited sequel to the New York Times best-selling Words of Radiance, from epic fantasy author Brandon Sanderson at the top of his game.

In Oathbringer, the third volume of the New York Times best-selling Stormlight Archive, humanity faces a new Desolation with the return of the Voidbringers, a foe with numbers as great as their thirst for vengeance.

Dalinar Kholin's Alethi armies won a fleeting victory at a terrible cost. The enemy Parshendi summoned the violent Everstorm, which now sweeps the world with destruction and in its passing awakens the once peaceful and subservient parshmen to the horror of their millennia-long enslavement by humans. While on a desperate flight to warn his family of the threat, Kaladin Stormblessed must come to grips with the fact that the newly kindled anger of the parshmen may be wholly justified.

Nestled in the mountains high above the storms, in the tower city of Urithiru, Shallan Davar investigates the wonders of the ancient stronghold of the Knights Radiant and unearths dark secrets lurking in its depths. And Dalinar realizes that his holy mission to unite his homeland of Alethkar was too narrow in scope. Unless all the nations of Roshar can put aside Dalinar's blood-soaked past and stand together - and unless Dalinar himself can confront that past - even the restoration of the Knights Radiant will not prevent the end of civilization.

"And so begins the wait for book 4."

Fantastic. There were a few bits and pieces I wish had played out differently, but the book was solid and entertaining.

I wept, I laughed, I felt fear, I felt joy. I loved it.

    "Finally!!! Was Worth The Wait"

Waited for years for this book to come, gone through the first 2 several times while waiting.... and I loved every second of it..

I thought I knew how Brandon Sanderson will end this book, I knew how Kaladin when and how he will speak the 4th oath, I knew how things will happen, I told myself "Mr. Sanderson, you can't surprise me no more"......

    ....................................
    ....................................................

He did it... So many things happened that shocked me, and so many twists that I didn't expect at all. It was amazing, the whole thing was an amazing experience and a shocking one..

One thing though.. I have to wait now till 2020 for the 4th book, that is the only bad thing about this series.. Now I know what Wheel of Time readers went through when they were waiting for each book, I just had to wait for the last one in that series...

Kate Reading and Michael Kramer are amazing as always, and they should have been in the Narrator Hall of Fame, they did a great job!!!

To Brandon Sanderson, I will have to accept that you will always surprise us with unthinkable twists and I should never say "I know what's coming"

Thanks for this amazing series, and to all, you must read this series.

"The perfect sequel - bigger, but grounded in characters"

As book 3, Oathbringer hits the ground running. We know the characters and the world by now, and Sanderson leverages that familiarity to show us how little we actually knew.

Where the previous books were largely focused on Alethi politics and only a few locations, Oathbringer gives us significantly more of Roshar - cultures, magic, and history all weave seamlessly into a compelling, character-centered plot.

The stakes and the scope have grown significantly. I was worried after the last book that the central conflict would devolve into a clear-cut, generic, good-vs.-evil war. Fortunately, Sanderson had something much better in mind--

Oathbringer keeps its grounding in heroic characters without being simplistic or straightforward. True to Sanderson's form, it takes unexpected turns and is full of rewarding reveals.

We get many more viewpoint characters, without losing the focus on the main characters. Each of our main characters get powerful moments of trial and growth. I love that they are allowed to face the traumas of their past and present and find ways to cope, not all of which are immediately successful.

Dalinar's past compliments the present remarkably well. I really wanted Szeth's flashbacks in book 3, but now that I've read the book, I'm super pleased that we got Dalinar's instead.

Character conflicts and moments of resolution felt extremely relatable in the best of ways. And wow! What an avalanche of an ending. Oathbringer does not disappoint.

I highly recommend it to fans of the series! (Also recommend reading Edgedancer first). If you haven't read The Way of Kings, definitely start there. This will undoubtedly be Sanderson's greatest series.

"I just hope I don’t have to wait 3 years for the next one"

This was a really good book. The characters were even better this time around. I just wished it were possible to see the illustrations that are in the printed book.

    "Simply Amazing."

I can't wait for the next book. This is one of the mist well written series I've experienced for quite a while. I'm really excited to learn more about the Cosmere and Roshar.
