Resumen del Editor

From number one New York Times best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical martial-arts action.

Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is now on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds. Kelsier, Vin, Elend, Sazed, Spook, and the rest are now part of history - or religion.

Yet even as science and technology are reaching new heights, the old magics of Allomancy and Feruchemy continue to play a role in this reborn world. Out in the frontier lands known as the Roughs, they are crucial tools for the brave men and women attempting to establish order and justice. One such is Waxillium Ladrian, a rare Twinborn, who can Push on metals with his Allomancy and use Feruchemy to become lighter or heavier at will.

After 20 years in the Roughs, Wax has been forced by family tragedy to return to the metropolis of Elendel. Now he must reluctantly put away his guns and assume the duties and dignity incumbent upon the head of a noble house. Or so he thinks, until he learns the hard way that the mansions and elegant tree-lined streets of the city can be even more dangerous than the dusty plains of the Roughs.

Entertaining, but it is no MistBorn

Entertaining, but it is no MistBorn

I enjoy Sanderson's books, and I found this one entertaining as well. There is some genuine humor along with typical narrative that will (unsurprisingly) remind readers of MistBorn. All signatures of Sanderson's writing are present. A magic/power system that is as accurate and dependable as any scifi gadget from 23rd century and there is a twist / innovative way to use the powers to delight the reader. Expect for this case, a reader may be able to guess the surprise use of the power (at least I did, and I was not surprised). I think that scope of the story is relatively smaller compare to the MisBorn series. Regardless, fan of Sanderson will enjoy this book (I know I did) that it is entertaining and very professionally done. Mr Kramer does his usual good work and narration was very well done. There seem to be strong indication of future books in this new series, and I look forward to them.

It's not as long as mistborn but that is ok.

I've seen a lot of people complain that this was not as long as one of Sandersons mistborn books, but the thing to keep in mind there is those books were damned long. This book has a more feel and length of a Terry Pratchett book and in my opinion that is a good thing. I am rather eagerly awaiting his next one of these books. He has a real world to work with here.

Excellent Continuation of the Mistborn Universe!

An old western palladin with super powers goes up against a nearly immortal arch villain. Great story that really has it all. It hooked me in from the first moments and held me through the exciting conclusion. One of Sanderson's best!

Sanderson does it again

I did not know how Sanderson was going to bring back the Mistborns, but he did it. And he did it in a way that that welcomes new listeners / readers without having to go back to the original series. I strongly suggest the first series, but it is not necessary. This book is well worth the credit. I can’t wait for him to get to the next one in the series. Thank you Mr. Sanderson.

An Echo of The Mistborn Trilogy

If you loved the Mistborn Trilogy, then this is a must read (listen) for you. Enter into a familiar, but different world, and enjoy a hint of the magical world you fell in love with. This is not on-par with the original three books, but kind of a guilty jaunt into what came after. I would liken this more to a serial novel than to a primary work, but it was fun nonetheless.

Michael Kramer did a wonderful job, as always. It's worth the listen just to hear him tell it. By far one of my favorite readers!

Not bad, not great

Mistborn is Sanderson best series, so imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon the alloy of law. The story starts out strong but in the middle you quickly realize that the characters don't have much depth, or distinguishing qualities that make them interesting, with Maraise being the worst offender. The lead, again trio, Maraise in particular, read like either homages or caricatures of western stereotypes. Despite the eye rolling these characters caused me, I was committed to the story, because, as per usual, Sanderson ability to World build and write interesting plot shone through. Despite the flat characters, it was a fine way to kill 10 hours, and the epilogue did give me goosebumps. It won't be a priority, but I will certainly be giving the next book in the series a shot. The plot will no doubt continue to engage, and hopefully, our protagonists will grow beyond their 1800s cowboy caricatures.

Brilliant

Creating a world and story is hard enough, but to continue that world hundreds of years after the hero's are gone is incredible. The new characters are compelling and the lore based on the original series in this future society makes so much sense in intricate detail it blew my mind. Narration excellent.

Solid 3.5 stars!

sometimes I really wish Amazon gave the option to give half stars. This would be one of those times. Mr Sanderson takes Mistborn to a smaller scale, with relatively smaller stakes, but that is not a bad thing. just different. A good rescue story. my only complaint is that the time bubble effect within fight scenes were sometimes hard to follow..

better than I thought it would be...

I really didn't think I would like this newer setting, but it worked well. Thoroughly enjoyed, waiting for sequels.

another solid Sanderson novel

This isn't one of his superior books that makes you change your rating system, but it was very enjoyable.
I really like the reader, he's done quite a few novels, and always is a pleasure.
