Story
After a long and brutal conflict, the war is over. Otto controls all the portals on the continent, and Garenland has made vassals of the other kingdoms. But some people can’t accept defeat. While Otto hunts King Villares in Rolan, Axel chases Prince Uther across Straken. With Markane scheming to help their enemies, the future of the New Garen Empire is far from certain. Even worse, the Wizards Guild is challenging Otto for leadership of the empire’s wizards, and they’ll use any means necessary to win. The war may be over, but the battles are far from won.

After the failure in Straken, Otto is forced to accept that as long as Garenland’s enemies can send reinforcements through the portals, the Northern Army has no hope of taking Marduke. But Otto has a plan: Seize control of the portals, and turn the enemy’s strength against them. To accomplish this seemingly impossible goal, Garenland’s top spies are dispatched to place magical patches on the portals in every capital. Behind enemy lines and on their own, it will be a miracle if the spies can survive, much less complete their missions.

A lot had changed in "The Holy Sky" School during the six weeks that Hadjar Darkhan was away. Everyone who was in the capital at the time became much stronger, thanks to the regular skirmishes along the Imperial road. By the emperor's decree, all the disciples of the Imperial martial arts schools were allowed to visit the infamous and highly coveted Wastelands. "The Holy Sky's" disciples were especially fortunate - they'd been given a two-week head start to find the map leading to Emperor Decater's tomb, as well as the key that would allow them to enter his chambers.

Dang good story!
I had a hard time putting the last two books down. Spend the credit if you like a clean story without being to young adult. It is a coming of age series so it's expected to be about teens etc.

Builds on the exceptional first entry
I very rarely look at litRPG books but stumbled across this series and I'm glad I did.
The author hasn't tried anything earth shattering, they've written two very good books and the narrator does a brilliant job of bringing the characters to life. Really looking forward to future entries in the series.

Great book, excellent character development!!! I need more
I love the route this book is taking. I gave 4 stars for performance because sometimes the pauses between voices was a little long. This is my first time reading a series by Robyn and I will definitely be checking out his other material.

keeps getting better, 4.5 stars, narratoration meh
really loving the direction this series is going. great characters. fun story and the ending makes you wanting more.
my only negative here is Vikas Adams is ruining thr dialogue. the pauses arent as bad as book one but his voices are constantly breaking immersion and are just bad. ill keep it up because the story is so good but my ears hurt.
worth the credit. as long as your ears can take it.

Great story with an even better performance
The performance was really good. All the different voices for all of the characters was really impressive.
The story is very good also. A little simplistic at points but still fun. Really like all of the different skills that the characters have though at points the explanations can get a bit long.

Ok story ruined by stilted narration
I'm having to listen to this story at 1.6x speed just to deal with the strange gaps and brakes in dialogue. The narrator is now officially on my avoid list after this repeated issue.
