All it takes is eight seconds for your world to come crashing to a halt.
What happens when you're injured and stuck with the one man who makes your blood heat in a way you've never experienced before?
I've been on a path to redemption. Kayce Wilder, former screw-up. The bareback bronc rider with big dreams. I had it all figured out.
Only, I didn't count on a ride gone wrong to leave me with no other option than to ask for his help. Zeke Rainer. Raine. The gruff cowboy covered in tattoos, surrounded by mysteries.
We've been at odds forever. Rivals in the arena. Two rodeo riders in pursuit of the same buckle… before he left me behind, without warning.
My stepbrother.
When urgent help is needed to run the ranch, he's the last person I want to be relying on for a favor. As the fall nights lengthen, tension and angst thicken the more time we spend alone together.
I shouldn't be noticing so many small details—especially not how strong his hands look while working with the horses—and certainly shouldn't be wondering if he thinks about me as much as I think about him.
I've never been attracted to a man before.
It would be insanity to be drawn to him. Wouldn't it?

Teddy as Kayce is perfect, and Dane is perfect as Raine. Someone’s review mentioned there are a few times when Dane’s “Kayce” voice sounds like Smegal from LOTR, and I totally caught it. It only happens a very few times very quickly, but it does disturb the flow and vibe. I giggled and moved on.
100% worth the credit!
What a story…Raine is DADDY

The most touching love story

I didn't love the other narrator, but really only because of the voice he used for Kayce, but overall it was still awesome. Rain was brooding and hard and the Narration for him fit his mood.
The small amount we got of Colt and Kayce made me sob. I related to it so much and healing in a way. I may never get that apology and action, but hearing a story of someone who does really hit me in the feels. It was sweet and beautiful. Then top it off with Layla hugging them in the hospital. I was done for.
one thing I would like to say though, I really wish the Taboo parts of these books weren't repeated over and over and over and over. I notice Rose does this. It feels like it is mentioned in every few sentences and I dont think its necessary.
Still a phenomenal writer, and she did a wonderful job here.
Kayce!!!

Elliot Rose has written another banger of a story. Saving the Rain begins with rodeo hot shot Kacey Wilder (who was first introduced to the series in Chasing the Wild) realizing that he might be gay after kissing another man. As he is trying to come to terms with this recent revelation he discovers that his step brother, Raine, who he hasn’t seen in years is working a neighboring ranch in Crimson Ridge. Their complicated and contentious relationship is compounded when Kayce is the injured and he has to rely on Raine as he recovers.
Their relationship gets even more difficult when they both start to acknowledge their growing attraction to one another.
There’s a lot of messy history that has to be unpacked and Kayce has to navigate coming out to his family and friends as well worrying that people will disapprove of he and Raine being together because they are step brothers.
The story has a healthy dose of angst, a lot of healing from past trauma and abuse, and some REALLY hot moments but the ending is happy for our cowboys.
Grab your headphones and make sure you hydrate because this one will have you tearing up & sweating in equal measures.
Perfect casting for a great story

Tiny quibble that one of the relationship change moments in the third act gave me slight whiplash, with perhaps a few more pages of explanation required to smooth over the character’s decision. As a while though just one beautiful love story, one of my favorites this year!
Cowboys romance!

Wow! Just wow. First of all the spice was immaculate. The tension, the dirty talk, the amount of spice was all incredible!
But this was so much more than a spicy cowboy romance book. There were times when my chest physically ached for the hurt and pain Kayce and Raine were experiencing.
The longing and confusion Kayce felt about every single aspect of his life. From his career, to his relationship with his father, his relationship with his mother, his queer identity, and of course his complex feeling when it came to Raine. He had a desperate need to feel like he was succeeding and be loved.
Anyone who knows me knows that it takes a lot for an author to get me to change my mind about a character and the Kayce from Chasing the Wild was nowhere to be found. His character growth was nothing short of remarkable while still being so believable!
I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with Raine at the start of this book. Because I really liked him. I understood his childhood trauma and his frustration with the circumstances that prevented him from leaving as soon as he would have liked. I knew there was a great guy hiding behind that snarl. But good lord was he mean to Kayce at first! 😩 Things quickly got better, and I was so glad to see that Raine was the amazing guy I thought he was. But if you’re not a fan of a bully dynamic like me, just be prepared and know it gets better!
Because did I mention how amazing the spice was? All that tension, angst, and heightened emotions lead to some cataclysmic spice!
Loved it!
