A new heart-pounding, suspenseful, and supremely romantic novel from New York Times best seller Mia Sheridan.

When wilderness guide Harper Ward is summoned to the small town sheriff's office in Helena Springs, Montana, to provide assistance on a case, she is shocked to find that their only suspect in the double murder investigation is a man described as a savage.

But the longer she watches the man known only as Lucas, on the station surveillance camera, the more intrigued she becomes. He certainly looks primitive with his unkempt appearance and animal skin attire, but she also sees intelligence in his eyes, sensitivity in his expression. Who is he? And how is it possible that he's lived alone in the forest since he was a small child?

As secrets begin to emerge, Harper is thrust into something bigger and more diabolical than she ever could have imagined. And standing right at the center of it all is Lucas. But is he truly the wild man he appears to be? A cold-blooded killer? An innocent victim? Or a perplexing mix of all three?

Harper must find out the answers to these questions, because the more time she spends with him, the more she risks losing her heart.

Audiobook Review
Overall 4 stars
Performance 4.5 stars
Story 4 stars

I don't read romantic suspense often, but I'm really glad I finally read Savaged. I was sucked into the story right away and it really kept my attention. My heart broke for Harper and Jak and everything they both endured. There's a definite Tarzan/Hunger Games vibe throughout the novel and I'm sure readers will draw comparisons between Jak and Mia Sheridan's other famous hero, Archer Hale. I think I still love Archer more, but Jak really was such a sweetheart under that gruff exterior. Jak's chapters in the past were often hard to listen to/read though and I strongly urge readers to check content warnings prior to starting.

Overall, the pacing was good, but the story did slow a bit in the middle making the book feel unnecessarily long. Things really sped up at the end though and it felt like too much got thrown in to make things tie together. Some of the reveals were very anticlimactic and unrealistic/too convenient because of this, which was disappointing since they were built up throughout the novel. I think I would have preferred things to be left a little more open ended.

I chose to listen to this one since I had heard so many amazing things about the male narrator, Christian Fox, and he truly did not disappoint. He used a variety of voices to bring the story to life and his growly voice was perfect as Jak. Chelsea Hatfield also did a great job, but her male voices were a little too soft, especially when she voiced Jak. Their voices paired well together though and it was an overall great listening experience.

CW: child abuse, implied sexual abuse in foster homes (past), death of parents (past), parental abandonment (past), mentions of drug abuse/addiction (secondary character), death, murder, blood/violence, death of animal (on page, past), loss of child (cancer related, secondary character, past)

I actually miss the characters! I grew attached to every single heroin and hero in this book!

Sad it's over

The writing is pretty melodramatic, kinda poetic, the entire premise is wild but makes the love story super erotic but still measured. I was wary that the author would make each new “villainous” character extra terrible but she struck a nice balance that never made the story too disturbing to handle. The plot twists were just unexpected enough to keep your attention, but not so much so that you didn’t start guessing. Just enough hope and a nice little HEA that wasn’t overly sappy.

Kinda ridiculous but also RIDICULOUSLY GOOD

There is mystery, romance and overall great characters. This book made me want to listen to it slowly so I wouldn't say goodbye to them too soon. The narration was great too!

Great story

I scrolled past this book several times before deciding to give it a listen. So happy I did. It's like a modern day Tarzan story, only much better. I highly recommend both the story and the narrators. They did an excellent job.

Loved it!

The story is just so heartbreaking. How connected the characters become over time. How hard Jack had to work to survive. What a beautiful human being he grew up to be when all he had was Harper’s mother’s notes to keep him company. The story of Pup. Mia Sheridan is becoming an auto-buy for me.
