Resumen del Editor

Scarlett Lattimore arrives at Lilith House, an abandoned mansion built in 1876, that later housed a reform school for troubled girls, to start a new life with her seven-year-old daughter.

But between the nearby town with the strange, disconcerting feel, the deputy sheriff who is equal parts intriguing and suspicious, and the discovery that their new home holds a dark and violent past, Scarlett soon begins to question her rash decision.

She is shaken and afraid by the screams that echo in the walls and the drumbeat that arises from the surrounding woods where the ghost of an indigenous man is said to roam, seeking vengeance. Her fear is also personal, because Scarlett knew one of the girls who attended the school, a friend who escaped into those woods and was never seen again. They all thought she was a rebellious runaway who later encountered foul play, but perhaps the truth is far more sinister.

As Scarlett’s extraordinary daughter Haddie becomes consumed by the eerie figure who weaves and beckons through the forest fog, and a legacy of secrets reveal themselves, it becomes clear both Scarlett and Haddie are in grave danger. When the past intersects with the present, they will come face to face with the true evil of Lilith House. An evil that has lasted for more than a century.

Beautiful Performances!!!

Mia does it again!! I'm loving all the twists & turns in this plot, but Alexander & Maya's performances are what kept me hooked... way to go you two!

Great book but…

This book was awesome. I’m a huge fan of Mia Sheridan’s. I have nearly every book of hers’s on audible. I read Fallen first and was excited for audio version. Unfortunately, I was so disappointed in the female narrator that I was more distracted by her unemotional presentation than actually enjoying the story.
I would suggest reading it rather than listening to it.

Great story, but the narrators …

Amazing story by Mia Sheridan. I love this tangent with the murder mystery plots

The female narrator was ok but the male narrator just too intense and borderline cheesy.
Like a 1950's commercial

I still recommend though the story is worth the sometimes annoying male narrator

Excellent Audible

First I’ll speak on the audio. Maya Bowman delivered an outstanding performance. However, when Alexander Cendese read his parts, it didn’t quite match what I expected the male protagonist voice to sound like. And when he spoke like a girl it was not great. That’s why I give a 4 on performance. But the story was amazing. Mia Sheridan can do no wrong.

Not my favorite from this author

Mia Sheridan is one of my favorite authors. I absolutely loved Where The Blame Lies and Where the Truth Lives. This book, however, was underwhelming. It took forever for the story to get going even though it was pretty obvious what was happening. I really didn't like the narrators. Overall, I liked the concept of the book but it felt a little unpolished. I don't regret purchasing this book but if you're trying to decide which one to buy, go with Where the Blame Lies and then Where the Truth Lives. Those two are infinitely better.

What a wild ride!

The story, the narration, the characters!! Everything about this audiobook was amazing! Mia Sheridan's books are just pure genius. Fallen was a tragic but also strong and incredible story. These narrators brought it to life wonderfully!

Not a fan of male narrator

I did not care for the male narrator. He sounded very old and his female voice sounded like he was talking through his nose. I did however, enjoy the story which is why I kept listening.

Trigger Warning - Rape / Animal torture

The story revolves around atrocities that happen in a small town in the name of religion and purifying sinners by having men "bless" them. There's a scene early on where the headmistress of the girl's school tortures and then kills a pet bird to "make a point" to a new student.

There's other scenes later in the book where the student discovers all the students are being drugged and she wants to know what's happening when they are unconscious. She fakes taking the drug and then pretends to be unconscious only to find out they are being knocked out so men can rape them.

If you can't handle any stories that have any scenes of animal cruelty. child abuse or rape, you need to pass on this.

If you are okay with that being in the story, the mystery itself is okay. I wasn't sure where it was going til I was less than three hours from the end of the book. The narrators are kinda meh. I think better narrators would have made this even better story.

A Good Story Poorly Read

The story held my interest but the performance was atrocious. Ms. Bowman mispronounced or mis-emphasized more than a half dozen words. Mr. Cendese made the characters of two strong women, Scarlet and Georgia, sound like pre-teen elves (no offense to pre-teens or elves). Sorry, but their performance almost made me stop listening.
