Publisher's summary

Nineteen-year-old Absidy Jones is a ghost magnet, a sensitive person spirits flock to when they can't cross over. After her brutal past escaping the hordes of ghosts vying for her attention, she spends her reclusive existence melting down iron into bite-sized pieces. Whether alloy or wrought, ancient paper clips or nails, consuming iron is the only thing that keeps the ghosts away.

But when Absidy's sister goes missing in deep space, a dangerous place brimming with rogue planets, ship-eating nebulas, and vicious aliens, Absidy vows to find her. She leaves her safe haven and boards the first ship she can that's on a direct route to deep space - a ship that turns out to be haunted.

To keep the malicious ghosts from killing her, the alluring bad boy pilot gifts her a small bundle of all the iron on the ship. But their growing relationship is tested with the crew's prying eyes and hidden secrets. While the ship sails into deep space, it's not just her sister's life that Absidy fears for. It's her own as well. Especially since her stash of iron has shrunk to zero.

This is one of the most Imaginative Sci-Fi Books!

This is the first book in one of the most imaginative series I’ve read for a while, featuring Absidy a twenty year old student waiting for her family to meet for christmas break. When she finds out that her older sister has gone missing she is determined to find even if she is in black space.
Dressed as a teenage boy called Lewis she ends up as a trainee chief on a small ship with a small crew. Nothing goes right as the ship is haunted and its Absidy sees ghosts. So the adventure starts and takes directions you in directions you can’t imagine. This is a step in the future that is haunting and frightening at times. When Absidy went on board she never imagined she would have deal with Monsters around every corner. The only good thing as far Absidy knows is that Mase knows her secret, and soon they start getting hot and heavy. I'm not giving anything else away, I don't want to spoil it for anyone.I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audiobook, it kept glued to my headphones.

Incredible story with compelling characters and narration

The story is unlike any other paranormal romance. The narrators get into character! The protagonist is someone you’ll love and I couldn’t stop listening! Definitely a great Christmas present for teens and young adults! I could see this being a movie!

Sci fi good for YA and up

I am not an avid sci-fi reader but this book just sounded good to me. Lindsey R. Loucks does a great job with this book, and I really enjoyed it. Anyone who likes Sci-FI an acation books from YA all the way up would probably enjoy this book. It is all fantasy. From Iron eating Absidy to the space ships.

In the book Absidy is living the life of most college students until she finds out her sister is missing in Deep Space. Abisdy eats iron to keep the ghosts at bay. She hides herself as a boy on a ship as a cooks apprentice in order to search for her sister. Not knowing the ship was haunted. Once on the ship she meets the Bad Boy Pilot who helps her by giving her more iron to ingest so the Ghosts cannot get her. But time is running out and so is the iron. If she doesn't find her soon she and her sister would be lost.

Enjoyed

I really enjoyed this story line. It showed that a sister will stop at nothing to save her loved one if she feels it is the right approach.

Exciting, well-written, well-narrated story!!!!

Sail - Haunted Stars: Book One by Lindsey R. Loucks. I don’t normally read YA stories, wanting things a little more mature. However, I was very pleasantly surprised by this story!!! It was magnificent! It’s the story of Absidy, who is constantly surrounded by ghosts….she’s always drawn them. She stays where she is to remain safe from them….until her sister is abducted and Absidy has to save her. She finds passage on a ship and gets close to the crew. Will she save her sister? Will they discover her secrets? Can she remain safe? I will be reading/listening to more from this author!!

This Audiobook was narrated by Kamala Alcantara. She was absolutely fabulous…especially her voice, which I thought was perfect for the character of Absidy. Her pronunciations were good and she absorbed the characters well. The Music by Scott Haskin was wonderful, when it was there. But, didn’t seem to be present very often in the story.

I am volunteering to leave a review for an Advance Copy of this Audio book.

Interesting

I thought this was an interesting & unique story, but I couldn't really get in to it. I wasn't able to make the connection with Absidy like I wanted, which is why I rated it as I did.
