Publisher's Summary
The capital has fallen. The Darkling rules Ravka from his shadow throne.
Now the nation's fate rests with a broken Sun Summoner, a disgraced tracker, and the shattered remnants of a once-great magical army.
Deep in an ancient network of tunnels and caverns, a weakened Alina must submit to the dubious protection of the Apparat and the zealots who worship her as a Saint. Yet her plans lie elsewhere, with the hunt for the elusive firebird and the hope that an outlaw prince still survives.
Alina will have to forge new alliances and put aside old rivalries as she and Mal race to find the last of Morozova's amplifiers. But as she begins to unravel the Darkling's secrets, she reveals a past that will forever alter her understanding of the bond they share and the power she wields. The firebird is the one thing that stands between Ravka and destruction - and claiming it could cost Alina the very future she’s fighting for. Ruin and Rising is the thrilling final installment in Leigh Bardugo's Grisha Trilogy.

The narrators voice..
The narrators voice was so distracting her lisp?? Or just the way her voice ends a word. I couldn't handle it. I cringe through.. skipping ahead just to know the conclusion. It wasn't as prominent in the earlier books. The story was good but I was more just distracted.

That ending!
I sat down to listen to this book and ended up finishing it in far less time than I usually would. In fact I listened to the entire trilogy in less time than I would take to listen to a single book.
The characters had me both loving and hating them and back again. And because of that they felt more real. It's a great series that I highly recommend to everyone who loves fantasy.
The ending wasn't exactly what I had hoped for, but it was the ending I think this trilogy needed and the one that made the most sense. (What I wanted would not have made sense for the world or characters.)
I loved how the author made the bad guy into a character that showed us how and why he thought of himself as the hero. I can't say more without spoiling things so I will leave this review as it is.

Predicting plot, and cringe worthy ‘Russian’ accents.
The book series as a whole is ok. I found it a was predictable plot. Starting with book one I felt it was slow and hard to get into at first. It was a clear cut on bad vs good which is not necessarily bad but like I said, predicable. The second book I though was better than the first, more action packed but very whiny characters and a love triangle. I liked how the main character is struggling with not only the darkness from outside but within herself. The third and final book was nice in seeing the slow recover of our main heroine but also grappling action scenes. The performance overall was good but the ‘Russian’ accent was cringe worthy, but the narrator did do a good job in putting emotion into the characters.

Things will never be the same!
After the last book, I was so eager to carry on with the story but I also didn't want it to end so I wanted to drag this last book out for as long as possible.
Alina is in hiding again but things are different. She's not alone and there's something wrong with her powers. Again she is both frustrating and badass in this book. She is not a natural leader. All she's wanted her whole life is to be loved but now the fate of Ravka lies in her hands and she's not sure she's the one for the job
Mal is so much less annoying in this book. It's like he's finally realised that there's a lot more on the line than just his feelings. He realises there are people that need saving and just gets on with doing his bit.
While this may be the last book in the trilogy don't think that Leigh will go easy on you. Oh no, this book will swallow you whole, rip you up and spit you back out. You will never be the same again when you read this book. Leigh broke my heart when she did what she does to Nikolai. Literally ripped it into teeny tiny pieces so that it will never, ever be whole again.
This series not only got into my heart but also under my skin. It's one of those series that once you start you realise why everyone is always talking about it. While I was immensely sad to be at the end I was very excited to start the Six of Crows duology and I am counting down the days until King of Scars is released and I can be back in this world.

Loved it!!!
Thoroughly enjoyed it, so so so amazingly well thought out. The universe she has made in these books is a testament to how important world building is when creating such a fantastic story. All the little details and lore, gave the book life, in top of which complex charecters who weren't just one dimensional and showed change in more ways than one. and the over acrhing plot, I thought I had the book figured out as the author has deliberately lead me into repetitive narrative traps. Just turns out she played me like a fiddle and turned the whole thing on my head! was such a great read.

Fun but flawed trilogy
The narrator was absolutely amazing like she always is, but such a disappointing Deus ex machina ending! All the problems are solved and death doesn't matter!
I think the author struggles with endings. Similar to the previous book, everything happens all at once and then is wrapped up very quickly within the last two chapters.
