Publisher's Summary

The dead can't speak to us, Professor Madoc had said. But that was a lie. The body Patrick Fort is examining in anatomy class is trying to tell him all kinds of things. But no one hears what he does, and no one understands when he tries to tell them. Life is already strange enough for Patrick - being a medical student with Asperger's Syndrome doesn't come without its challenges. And that's before he is faced with solving a possible murder, especially when no one believes a crime has even taken place. Now he must stay out of danger long enough to unravel the mystery. But as Patrick learns one truth from a dead man, he discovers there have been many other lies closer to home.

Different

I really enjoyed this book. It was so different than the formulaic mystery/thrillers out there these days. The characters are interesting, frustrating, likable, even lovable at times. And the narrator did an excellent job with the nuances of Patrick's condition. It was an excellent listen.

Unique, But Hardly a Thriller Until The Last Hour

NO SPOILERS REVIEW! It's more of a drama mystery than suspense, but it is unique. The story had a good plot, but it really carried on and on. I was more than halfway through the book before I even saw the plot starting to reveal itself. Other reviewers said it has a little bit of paranormal, but there is actually nothing in it that is paranormal. This is basically a detective story told by a young man with Aspergers, a form of Autism.

The ending was tied up too quickly and a little bit unbelievably for my taste. Some of the sub plots needed more time for me to feel satisfied.

I will say the main character Patrick was enjoyable and so was the narrator.

I would say this one is 40% mystery, 55% drama, and 5 % suspense.

Awesome

This is one of my favorite reads in the past couple of years! It's tough to critique this incredibly unique story-line - suffice it to say this is a real page turner and extremely well-written. I don't want to give away anything but I read a book every few days and I was so engrossed in the story and the main character that I was sad to let him go in the end and close the book. Just read it - you'll thank me.

Brilliant and absolutely impossible to put down.

Not one wasted sentence. Character rich , smart , unique , unforgettable with a perfectly paced unraveling. The reader is fantastic too - but the book's so good I wished I'd read it myself, curled up without visual distraction.

A wonderful story.

I heartily recommend this book. It ticked all the boxes for me: unusual protagonist, overseas location (Wales, in this case) and intriguing psychological elements. Great narration, too.

Enjoyed "Shut Eye" so decided to give this book a try. Glad I did. Andrew Wincott may be the reason. He brought the story to life!

"Oh Please"... and Thank You!<br />

Finally a really good mystery with likable characters! I loved this book. I have over 300 audio books in my library and if I scanned through them I wouldn't be able to remember a good portion of them. Plain and simple, I won't forget this book!!💖💖💖
