Publisher's Summary

Bakery owner Willow Dalton's friendship with Zane Walker has always been a bit complicated. Now a scrumptiously hot A-list actor, Zane's always had a reputation as a player. He's arrogant, and he's definitely not boyfriend material. Sure, he did Willow a favor by agreeing to take her virginity before college, but is that reason enough for her to go along with a fake engagement a decade later - even if it comes with a real diamond ring?

Zane should have known better. Nothing involving Willow has ever been easy. Still, he knows her better than anyone, and becoming America's hottest new leading man means cleaning up his reputation. An "engagement" to curvy, sass-mouthed Willow is the perfect PR move...provided no one gets hurt.

Now Zane and Willow's little white lie has turned into an irresistible recipe for sweet temptation. And soon no one will be able to tell the difference between their fake engagement and the real thing - including them.

I loved Willow and Zane

The Real Thing by Melissa Foster is another start to a fantastic series called Sugar Lake. Melissa creates memorable characters in a small town. I not only fell in love with the main characters, but the minor ones as well, making me want to have the future stories about them as well. True to form Melissa always finds the perfect blend of humor, angst and combustible chemistry.

Willow Dalton has been friends with Zane Walker for years. Though he has moved on to Hollywood action films and she has stayed home and now runs her own bakery. When Zane approaches Willow and asks for a favor, being her friend of course she gives it serious thought, though this just might be the most difficult thing he could have asked of her. When their past, present and future collide, it makes for an incredible story.

PS - John Lane does an amazing job of bringing Melissa's characters to life. His performance is the icing on the cake making the perfect concoction for fans to devour.

Not sure why it was under romantic comedy

This was an okay book even though it was abit predictable. I'm really sure why it was listed under romantic comedy because I never out right laughed but there were a few places that I snickered. Not worth a credit but I paid 1.99 because I have Kindle unlimited so it was worth that.

Ummmmm..

So I get when a guy is the narrator it's sometimes hard for him to do believable female voices, but John Lane's voice was SO deep as a male to compensate that it became irritating after while. Seriously, his female voice was fine and there was no need to GO SO LOW. It was a nice love story but it could have been 4 chapters shorter.

ignore all the bad comments

If you could sum up The Real Thing in three words, what would they be?

FUN, EXCITING AND ROMANTIC

Any additional comments?

I want my credit and the last several hours of my life back

Ridiculous. Narrator's voice is unbearable, the story is as deep as a paper towel. And the alpha male vs. helpless female is eye-rolling.

it dragged

at first I thought the book had potential the storyline was pretty good but as the story started to drag on and on I couldn't finish the book. don't get me wrong I love romance books and I don't need to listen to a book that has lots of sex and even though this book does have Intimacy in it the problem is is that I just keep dragging on how she felt how he felt. I do like John Lane he's one of my favorite narrators he's one of my favorites but even with his sexy voice I still couldn't finish the book I'm curious about the other characters to see if there will be books about them but just because this book dragged I will not get it

I love all of her books

I believe I own all of her books I will listen to or read anything she has written. I may not be the best person to say this but everything I have read by Melissa Foster deserves five stars or more.

Sexy as ever

I love The Real Thing and this audio book narrator is perfect for it. He sounds exactly how I imagine Zane would. Beautiful story about two best friends helping each other and the voice to go with it sounds sexy as anything. Perfect
