Publisher's summary

When a woman plans her life, she never includes tragedy. Hannah McFey thought she knew what she wanted - to marry her heart's delight, Lukas MacLaren, and to work as a professional weaver like her mother in the16th-century Scottish Highland village of Feshiebridge. Social class differences undergird Hannah's greatest fears of ever truly being loved. She also discovers close ties with beings of the folkloric Celtic Otherworld. But the initial romantic conflict, once resolved, leads our heroine into deeper discoveries about the nature of a woman's soul - her drive, her courage, and her ability to love, even herself. Remember to breathe. Tragic events send Hannah on a treacherous journey to locate Michael, a mysterious missing harper loved for years by her mother. Michael's story plumbs the depths of Celtic mysteries while Hannah struggles to survive in the face of great loss and deep uncertainties. The two strands blend into a seamless weaving of healing the wounded heart, reclaiming one's identity, and learning to love once more.

difficult to get through

The story itself was good. The characters were well developed and could be related to. The plot was unique enough to carry me through and the narration was okay. However, I left this book and forced myself to come back several times. Stopping at every chapter to tell me the chapter is over, and was read by the writer, complete with music accompaniment broke up the flow of the story and prevented me from becoming truly engrossed. I hope some day this series is rerecorded and without the dramatics so that I can listen to the rest of the series. For now I'll save my money/credit or look to have it read to me by kindle .

The story comes alive

Bobbie’s vast knowledge of Celtic myth and traditions brings the story alive. She captivates your attention while painting every detail vividly in your mind as if you were in the story yourself. The main character, Hannah, finds love, overcomes tragedy, discovers a deep strength from within and nudges her to a path of discovery. I can’t wait to continue following the life of Hannah and her growing family in book 2.
