Publisher's Summary

Determined to fulfill her dream of becoming a chef and winning a coveted scholarship to study cooking in Italy, Ki Blake rushes in late to the first class of her final semester at Kirkwood Culinary Academy and is stopped in her tracks by Taryn Ellis, the school's newest instructor. A beautiful and accomplished chef, Taryn has walked away from her promising career in the city's top restaurant to devote her life to her five-year-old daughter. Ki and Taryn try their best to resist the urge to give in to the undeniable chemistry between them. And when at last they begin a passionate affair that must be kept a secret, they are each convinced it's only a short-term fling. It's up to both Ki and Taryn to decide whether they have found something genuine or whether the taste of romance is truly enough to satisfy.

Taste-y Treat!

Would you consider the audio edition of Taste to be better than the print version?

The audio is really good, but the book is better.

What other book might you compare Taste to and why?

There aren't too many writers in the genre who write in first person present tense so I can't really compare this book to others. It's a sweet, contemporary romance that's light, yet full of chemistry. Steamy, sexy, and fun.

What does Brittni Pope bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great accents.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Very funny, emotional and made me cry in a good way.

Romance for Foodies

Love this story. The narration of Taryn’s accent is fantastic and the women are sweet and likable with just enough angst and steam. Even though the characters have a teacher/student relationship, the relationship never seems like it’s dominated by either character. The women have an equal partnership and they both respect each other’s feelings as their lust and love grow. I’ve listened to this a few times. Sweet feel good romances are my favorites and this one does not disappoint.

Perfect story

For someone who doesn’t cook this was an interesting story to follow... great characters, great story...
Brittni Pope was mostly a good narrator, but the accent of Tarin was Australian and not South African... :) all in all great job.

Enjoyed the story

I liked the story overall but it felt like a novella. Even though it was well written there were no back stories for any of the characters. Why does Ki change professions, how can she afford to and no background on her family where's her dad why no interaction with any siblings.
I listened to the book and as I am South African I am found Taryn's accent more Australian or Kiwi and miles too flat for the South African accent.
Take this book a turn it into a full fledged novel build out the characters and make them more three dimentional rather paper cut outs.
This book is a good foundation for a really good novel. The restaurants, the academic institution are all wonderful canvases to tell a story around.
I was left unsatisfied.

I love the story just not the reading so much

the story line was heart and I love a happy ending, however the reading wasn't so great and differentiating the characters. She also read way too fast .... Like there was no pause in her reading.

High school drama! <br />

Like the story. It was simple and sweet. The story felt like a high school love drama. Not complaining just making an observation.

Perfect

I previously read the print edition of Taste, and loved it so much that I bought the Audible version as well. Taste is the perfect happy lesbian romance; a total feel-good story that still has a good plot and lots of delicious anticipation. Brittni Pope brings the story to life, doing an excellent job both with Ki's character and with Taryn's South African accent. Both characters sound distinct and authentic, with plenty of emotion carried in the narrator's voice. Sound quality was fine on my download; no static. Highly, highly recommend.

Excellent audio!

I loved Taste by Kris Bryant. Excellent narration by Brittini Pope. Great story with friendship, a cute kid and romance. I loved the inside look at a culinary school.

enjoyed the story, could use higher sound quality

I enjoyed the story and thought the reader did it justice, however I thought the recording quality and sound production was on the low side.
