It is good but you must like the dom male kind . This story has a storyline that is hard to believe. It has a lot of sex and unbelievable characters.

What!!!!!
This story was all sex and no substance. Meet a guy on your first day away at college and have sex with him immediately. Even though you have this big life plan. Then you do something he has asked you not to do which is put your life in danger. Then he tells your Dad he is going to spank you and your Dad says okay as long as you don't tell her Mom. I don't think so. But it is a story that truly asks you to suspend reality way too much.
I was given this in exchange for an honest review via audiobook boom.

a short with more coming
My introduction to Alyssa Bailey's work and the world she built around a newly arrived mixed race (native American, & French Canadian) young woman, Jocelyn and an older brother, Liam, of her new college roommate. There seemed to be attraction on both sides upon first meeting, but there were some caution on both side. They were still thrown together often. Liam was a clear dominate in his stance in many things. This was way too short to get a good feel for the two character separately. The story was very short and a very much a prequel to what you would get in the follow-up books.
Marie Smith was a nice distraction. Male/female were easy to distinguish but could still have been better.

discipline and spanking
As another reviewer said, this book moves too fast and has some cringey aspects that make it an uncomfortable read. apparently, the H no only spanks his partners but also his sister? The fact that spanking and BDSM dom/sub discipline is used and OK by all then men in this book is a little horrifying. And it's not so much as mutual dom/sub relationship as it's just the H spanking the h when he disagrees with what the h is doing. Driving across country to college? That sounds risky, but what other choice does the h have? It's also part of her growing independence. No, it's not the safest option but the H showing up to drive her is pretty unbelievable. They aren't even dating yet at that point.

I have no words!
I can't even finish this story, it's that uncomfortable and I'm still angry as I write this. Jocelyn Charles is driving from Bismarck, North Dakota to her college future far away from home. She is a Native woman and is excited about experiencing things she's only dreamed of. Waiting for her in her dorm room is her roommate, Kelli, along with Kelli's brother, Liam. He's a presence, for sure, with his good looks and smoldering eyes and she's immediately drawn to him as he is to her. Now it gets creepy. The first thing he does is he questions her about driving all by herself, unaccompanied,1500 miles! He's condescending and leaves an uncomfortable feeling hanging in the air. But all that changes when Jocelyn decides that, even if she doesn't know him at all, she's willing to give him her virginity. Once he goes home to Sheridan, Wyoming, he's good about calling her every day, until they come few and far between. When she drives home (1,500 miles all alone!) for the holidays, she's surprised by a visit from Liam who has, incidentally, called her parents to tell them how unwise it was to let her drive to school all alone. But it gets worse...her father agrees with him that she's hard-headed and he didn't want to do it, but Jocelyn wouldn't listen. Liam takes her for a drive to a small cabin to "talk about" what she's doing and what's going to happen from her on in. She's been unsafe and now she's going to be spanked. He hurts her, without any concern for her well-being, but it gets her hot!? Wait, what? Is this an attempt at bdsm? Bdsm light? It's actually appalling. Then Liam proceeds to dish out his rules for her, even though Jocelyn still doesn't know why he fairly ghosted her at school and quit calling. He gives her nothing except it got busy at work. From here on in, he says, Jocelyn has to be safe, or she'll be punished. She's not allowed to walk alone after dark, go to parties where she doesn't know anybody, leave the doors unlocked, and drive long distances without a co-pilot. She IS allowed to go to class, go to community events, eat healthy food, go to parties with friends where there's no underage drinking and, if she's not sure if it's safe, she has to call him! He is beyond a creeper and control freak; he demands total submission and it ruins the entire story for me. I am not interested in finishing, and I won't be reading any more of her books.
On the positive side, Marie Smith does a good job with the narrating!
