Publisher's Summary

A love story that survives the test of time.

Keith McKallister is the king of the stoners. You know the type. Every school has one - the hot, fun, dopey guy beloved by the student body but despised by, well, just about everyone else. He spends his early mornings in the ocean and his days trying to get to class on time. Life is as easy as it gets until one poor choice too many catches up with him, and he’s forced to reevaluate his path.

Samantha Anderson sits in the front row. You know the type. Every school has one - the quiet, faceless, studious girl who fears the taunts of her peers and fades into the background. Life has never been simple for Samantha, and it’s about to get a little more complicated when Keith slides into the seat beside her with a partnership plan designed for his benefit only. But what Keith brings to the table is more than either of them could imagine.

Sometimes the person you least expect to make a difference will change your life forever. Sometimes the person you love the most might be better off without you.

A rollercoaster of emotions!

First of all, if you haven't read the Cake series you're missing out. Go read them!
Rogue Wave have all the feels. I've been patiently waiting for Keith's and Sam's story and it did not disappoint. I thought Kyle was the quirky one, turns out Keith was long before him. Their story started from high school and journeyed over many years. This book have a serious vibe to it but it was also highly entertaining, filled with laughter, love, and a few obstacles that could have broken stronger than these two. One minute I'm laughing out loud, the next I just wanna cry. J Bengtsson is just that good at weaving a story. I've been all in with the McKallister family since Jake's story and I just enjoyed seeing them get happy endings. Just in case you miss Cake, Kyle, Kenzie, Finn, Emma and all the rest of the gang, don't worry we get to see them again in this one too. I finished reading this in one sitting and as with the others I will be reading it again. I just hope this isn't the last one, after all there's still Grace and Quinn!
This is my first Alex Kydd listen and I was really impressed with how he portrayed Keith, Andi Arndt as usual was just awesome.

Love this family

This book was so entertaining from the minute it started. Keith and Sam were truly suppose to be together. I can't wait until Quinn's story. So worth the credit / cash. Keep it up Jill, you're an amazing author.

Another great listen

This book is just as great as the others in the series. Somehow the author gives enough of a different spin on each sibling to keep my attention. Didn’t want to stop listening. Thanks.

J. Bengtsson has a gift!

First, the narrators are perfect. Andi Arndt is always beyond amazing, and Alex Kydd was a perfect choice for Keith.

I read this story first, and listened to the audible version when it was released. Sam and Keith are just like all of the other characters in this series.... hilarious, lovable, relatable and memorable. This entire series has become my ALL-TIME FAVORITE. I can't wait for the next one.

Amazing!!

I’m not surprised that this series continues to get better! J. Bengtsson is so talented!
I love getting snippets of each family member as the stories continue.
Make sure you read/listen to these stories in order.
Great choices for the narration too!

I Love This Series

Another good book in the series. I’ve listened to and enjoyed them all. This was a good story with the usual witty banter among the characters.

Genuinely Fantastic

Incredible story, I love following the family’s story. I am sad that this is the “last” book for a while until the next is released (I assume there will be a book for Quinn and then another for Grace). Excellent narration. I can’t wait to read again.

History rewritten

I have loved all these books, but the author re-wrote history in this one and it bugged me. Keith was not the very important part in Jake's recovery that was portrayed in this book. In book 1, Keith is not mentioned in Jake's recovery. It is Emma that Jake remembers sitting in his room reading and just being there. Also, Keith did not tour with Jake in the beginning as was told in this book. In book 1, Jake tells Casey that no one in his family toured with him in the beginning. He only had Lassen. Other than that's loved it

Series is the best. Read the book in order

This family and the characters are fully developed and you learn to love them even with their flaws.

Sweet and real young love to second chances

I've listened to the other stories in this series and was excited to hear Keith and Sam's story which I never imagined would've been so sweet and awesome and sad and a little tragic (don't worry you get a HEA!) I loved the beginning parts of their relationship in school, it was so lovely to see how the girl that goes unnoticed in school got together with one of the popular guys. Obviously I knew there was a tough bit coming with what happened to Jake but I never in a million years imagined poor Keith (and Sam by default) had such a hard time getting his life back together afterwards. It was painful and upsetting to read as you just wanted Keith to do the right thing for Sam. I loved the way they found each other again in later life and but then again had such sadness hit them again. This was a rollercoaster of a story and Bengtsson again with her beautiful story telling did an epic job! The narration also was perfect, Alex was a new to me narrator but he quickly became Keith in my mind and Andi as always has such an amazing voice that you can imagine her as a teenager or and adult. This is a must read if you've read the rest of the series!

Enjoyable listen

J. Bengtsson is a reliably great author, and this book is a good addition to the series. I love how you see major events through a difference lens with each book and see how they have impacted everyone in the family, and the choices they make. It’s such a well thought out and well executed concept. The only downside to this book was I’m not particularly attracted to slightly dim stoners, though he was likeable. Also the drama towards the end was annoying and just there for plot drama but left me wanting to shake the characters to wake them up. The overall book was still well worth a listen though!

hmmmmm

loved all the cake series books but this one i got frustrated with. lots of teenage background story which made me feel it was a young teenager book. I think the heroine's actions did not match the love of her life that was trying to be portrayed.
definitely not fave
