Yet at the pinnacle of success as a Contemporary Christian music artist in the '80s, alcoholism threatened to end his successful ministry, reputation, and family. What happens when a famous Christian singer struggles with addiction? Where is God when his followers are less than perfect? Can God heal, deliver, and restore?

This raw and honest memoir is both refreshing and convicting. Pulling no punches, Chuck draws from his deep well of experience following Jesus for over 40 years, through the highs and lows of real life. Chuck’s book is by far the best listening experience I’ve had on audible. I was going to get the physical book but couldn’t wait when I found out that Chuck Girard had written his life story. I’m so glad that I went with the audio version for the reason of getting to hear it read by the man himself. You get a real sense of Chuck’s personality through his reading.. with little chuckles here and there, asides that He mentions that are not in the actual paper copy, the heart of the man is evident. I put of listening for a few days near the end of the book because I didn’t want it to end. What a blessing. Now that Chuck has gone on to be with his Lord, I trust that his songs and this book will continue to minister to people until Jesus finally returns. Maranatha!

Enjoyed every word narrated by Chuck Girard, especially the off-book comments and bonus singing. Amazing life of talent, searching and Redemption! Recommend 100 percent.

An amazing accounting of one of the pioneers of Jesus Music 🎶 not to be confused with CCM or the current phase called worship music. Well worth the read, but the Audible version has a bonus of side comments & singing - well worth listening!!
Read by Chuck Girard, the book is warm, vulnerable, honest, and self-deprecating at times.
