Publisher's summary

The skeleton detective is coming back to life… again! It’s the tenth, triumphant novel in the Skulduggery Pleasant series, and it will rearrange your world.

Skulduggery and Valkyrie are back in the tenth instalment in the bestselling Skulduggery Pleasant series – an incredible and unexpected treat for the legions of fans around the world.

We can’t say much but we can say this: Skulduggery and Valkyrie are going to team up with beloved characters from the first 9 books as well as an all-new cast, including new teen co-star Omen Darkly, for an adventure that takes the story to truly global proportions… while answering questions that go right back to the beginning.

And Derek says this: “I was halfway through Last Stand of Dead Men, I think, when I realised that I had more stories to tell. I told myself that if Skulduggery and Valkyrie survived the series, I would leave the option open of returning to their world. There were still secrets I need to reveal, after all, and there were still horrors they had to face. They survived the first series. But they’re really going to wish they hadn’t.”

Another great book in the series!!

Another great story from Derek!!! The only downside for me, not a big fan of the man they chose to read it. Just didn't much care for his voice or the voices he did, but overall still a great book!!!

Great story, disappointing voice

Resurrection was a fun listen with great characters returning and a few new ones. It feels very much like a different world with the main characters changed after the events of the previous series. This is a good thing as character development and changing up the status quo is one of the positives of the Skulduggery series.

However, something has to be said of the audio book's production quality. The first few books had a great narrator with a theme song and musical stingers that played when a chapter ended on a plot twist or cliffhanger. Gradually, they changed narrators and nixed the musical stingers in favor of a single theme that played at the start and end of the book.

Production-wise, Resurrection is the worst of the audio books. There's no themes. Kevin Hely doesn't measure up to the many great narrators before him. While he does a few voices well (like Cadaverous and Leafy), the other voices sound too samey and uncharacteristic of who he's portraying. Often I could not tell the difference between Valkyrie and Skulduggery, which made me have to rewind a few conversations.

While the production isn't a deal-breaker, anyone listening to the series consecutively should steel themselves for this.

Great as usual but political undertones... Really?

Should keep his political opinions out of his narrating for a fantasy novel. brings it a little too close to home for a fantasy novel

Good, but not my favourite...

This was my least favorite of all of them so far. Still great, just not fabulous.
The narrator, who is excellent overall, is lacking some consistency in how he portrays each character's voice. SP was different and didn't care for it.
The storyline is darker/more depressing/less humorous...and dragged a bit.

Still love these books (and still wondering how anny of them are classified as children's lit!!!)

Good but some issues

I liked the overall story but I felt certain elements were a little hamfisted into the story. There was an entire chapter that was basically just ranting about politics, and while I could see what Derek Landy was trying to do with the diversity of characters I think Never could've been better written better
