A DARK SOCIETY ~ REVENGE ~ SEX & 5 ⭐️ FRICTION

I really try not to start a new Trilogy until all three books are out but, with A. Zavarelli and Natasha Knight’s names beckoning me, I just couldn’t resist this dark listen that tells the tale of Sovereign Sons, Founding Families and a hate-fuelled revenge that’s been building for four long years. A scarred tattooed monster chose his sacrificial virgin bride for two reasons only.. revenge on a Father that can no longer pay and vengeance against the Murino name.. and fear, anger, terror, rules, tears, rage and hate follows as he wants to scar, damage, break, own, punish and leave his marks on her traitorous skin. Skin that calls to him to claim and mark.. defiance that he must punish but it intrigues him too.. a nature that softens his resolve.. a beautiful face that attracts him with its flawed cat eye gaze.. and a body he wants to own and do very bad things to.

Thirteen Founding Families are at the top of the Society’s chain and Ivy and Santiago have been born into it - but it’s Santiago who is one of the privileged Founding Families.. they’re Gods amongst men with their secrets, hooded robes, possession ceremonies and ownership marks the barbaric vultures delight in. And innocent Ivy has no way out, she must take her sexual punishments, bow to her husband’s bdsm pleasures, hold back her growing feelings for him, hide her tears and bear an unwanted child if he succeeds in his mission to get her pregnant with his sons. So, the innocent lamb and the revenge-fuelled monster push and pull.. and war with their unwanted feelings as they learn each other’s sexual desires and boundaries. But one has a conniving sister, one has a sinister brother and an enemy has just delivered a death-blow of a CLIFFHANGER ending.

Worth a credit? Yes, I was riveted to every chilling chapter as Ivy’s well-written nightmare played out with a merry-go-round of fear, despair, arousal, angst and many many exhausted sighs. My intrigue level was high, my anticipation was higher and my dark delight was maxed out with a damaged, dangerous, possessive anti-hero with a skull tattoo over half his face. I hoped the slight character growth and the lowering of defence would sway the vengeful monster within Santiago in a different direction.. but the cliffhanger held only one response from me.. fuuuuuuuuuuu** 🤭😩☹️ I need books 2 and 3 stat. Kai and Wen did a great job narrating the dual POV story and together they brought the suspense, the feels and the fire to life.

I cannot stand the female narrators voice.

She isn't right for these types of books. She sounds so immature and deep voiced and way to bitchy she just is not right for this type of character. She doesn't sound pretty or attractive at all.
Ugh. I just can't deal.
Please get a new female narrator for the next books.

Did not enjoy this trilogy

I like mafia books and, dominant books, and prisoner turned lover books, but I did not enjoy this trilogy. I thought maybe I’d get more invested so I bought the next book and then after reading two I had to finish it of course. Totally regret wasting my money. I never understood the connection between the two characters. He wasn’t even nice to her. A scarred man who isn’t even nice, yet she falls in love with him right away. Makes no sense. Why did I invest in this?! I do not recommend, although the narrators were good. I read a similar review yet I ignored it. I’m stupid. Lol.

The female narrator 😒 (SPOILERS)

I'm kind of torn on how to rate this book. It was good enough to keep me listening but the abuse he displayed was annoying. He was so mean to her and expected her to just take it without having any reactions to his horrible behavior. And to make matters worse, she didn't even know why he hated her and because he was the butt hole that he was, he wouldn't give her any explanations of why he treated her like crap. I hate stupid women 😒. She was just...stupid. As bad as her brother treated her, why would she think/expect him to help her? I mean why? Really? Just stupid. And he comes to the house, tells her to defy her abusive husband and tells her that he gave her a birth control shot and not tell her husband and guess what? She doesn't. She knows full well that her brother only cares about himself and she STILL begged him of all people for help. What an idiot (her).

Now, on to the narration. The male narrator did a great job. I wish he could have read the whole book by himself. The female narrator was annoying! Her male voice was annoyingly awful. She made all the men sound like old robots. I cringed every time it was her turn to read. I'd already spend my money on this book so I stuck with it. I'm glad that I was able to finish listening but it was hard to get through with having her as the narrator.

Because this book ended with a cliffhanger I must get the next in the trilogy to see what happens next. I hope that it is released sooner than later with either a different female narrator or have the male narrator read the whole book all by himself.

I found the book a bit boring

Not much going with the two main characters. I had a hard time focusing on the story because I found it a bit boring.

Ok

I loved the last book written by these two authors so I think my expectations might have been unrealistically high, it just didn’t do it for me I’m afraid, I’ll still buy the second book on kindle because the OCD in me needs to know what happens as this ends on a cliffhanger, I’m hoping the second book will be better

Wow!

This book is alluring! Very captivating, it has reeled me in for sure! It is a cliffhanger though, & boy what a doozey of one! I'm not a fan of cliffhanger's. But this book is a great story so far! Can't wait for the next book! Narration is on point.
