Publisher's Summary

If people have polar opposites, Luca Rossi is mine.

His butt is in the baseball hall of fame. Mine's comfortably seated in the hall of lame.

When he's not snagging fly balls out in center field, he's modeling in shampoo commercials. I once jammed my own finger while stirring cookie dough, and sometimes I forget shampoo is a thing.

He's a total cynic when it comes to love.

I make a living writing love stories.

But after my latest broken engagement (no, I don't want to talk about how many times that's happened), it's clear he's exactly the man I need.

If anyone can teach me to be the opposite of me, it's him.

The first thing I want him to teach me?

How to not fall in love.

And as luck would have it, he's in desperate need of a fake girlfriend to get a meddling grandmother off his back.

We couldn't be more perfect together, because the last thing Luca Rossi will ever be is the next man to leave me at the altar.

Or will he?

Real Fake Love is a line drive straight to the heart featuring a grumpy athlete, a jilted bride, a fake relationship, and the world's laziest cat. It stands alone and comes complete with sibling rivalry, the world's most awkward shower scene, and a sweetly satisfying happily ever after.

snort laughing hilarious

Omg! Pippa Grant hits it outta the park with laugh out loud read. Luca and Henri bring it home as they both learn the true meaning of love...without actually wanting to. I can't say enough about the spectacular talent of Jason Clark and Virginia Rose in bringing the story to life.

Jason Clarke and Virginia Rose nailed it!

There are not enough stars in the universe for me when it comes to this book .
I've read all of Pippa Grant's books and for me, this one will be my favorite.
I am so in love with these two characters.
Henrietta Leonora Bacon, is a writer with the worlds most affordable and laziest cat, who has been jilted at the alter five times and she's had enough. No more falling in love.
No more marriages.
She turns to Luca Rossi, a professed no commitment man who doesn't believe in love or marriage, to help her learn to stay unattached and not to fall in love with the next guy who comes along.
When Luca's, Nonna decides to put the curse on him, he decides that pretending that Henri is his girlfriend is the best answer. So they work up a deal. He'll help her not to fall in love and she'll be his pretend girlfriend until the end of the season.
This is a great story written all the feels, and we finally get an answer to the mascot situation.

Jason Clarke's, rich velvety voice, had me laughing until I was crying.
He really did justice to Luca's personality.
I could really feel how he got into character, every eyebrow lift and laugh made me picture Luca in my mind.

Virginia Rose, really has a gift.
I loved how she was really able to bring out the character that Pippa wanted us all to know. She made Hanri's character come to life for me.

I look forward to more from all three of them in the future.

High praise!!!

Pippa has done it again. I loved the female lead, Henri! You can understand how anyone would fall in love with her, leading to her several failed engagements. Luca does not believe in love, but does believe in his Nonna’s “eye” which once it’s used on someone it leads to a marriage. Henri doesn’t want to fall in love, while Luca doesn’t believe in love, so they are put into a situation where they help each other out. Henri helps Luca by pretending to be his girlfriend so Nonna won’t use the “eye” and Luca will help Henri not to fall in love. But Henri is so lovable that it’s really difficult for her. And even though Luca is annoyed by her, her corky personality it getting to him. And if all that doesn’t convince you to read the book, try this - there is a cat named Dogzilla that dresses up!

Laughed out loud through the whole book!!!

This was my first book by Pippa and I am thrilled to find such an awesome author. The reviews were so correct about this being a great love story that has you laughing out loud often. Enjoy at your own risk! You have been warned. 😜. I loved the story line and characters so much, I am seriously trying to get all of her books on Audible. I love that while the characters have struggles, they aren’t so driven by drama that you just wished the author would move the story along already. Awesome pacing of the story and I really love the epilogues. Pippa is now on my “Must purchase all new releases” list.

Firey forever please

Oh my God this was another great, fabulous book by the extremely talented Mrs. Pippa. I can only imagine how much she was laughing as she was writing this story. Henry is now my hands down most favorite leading lady. And Luca is no slouch either. Holy hotcakes their story has to be made into a movie. So just buy this book and get ready for the time of your life. Enjoy life read a book!

Jason Clarke is the only bright spot

This book had 5 stars and Jason Clarke narrating. I figured it would be a great book. It was not. The main character was written to be odd but endearing. However, the characters personalities fell flat. The storyline was all over the place and boring.

Henri ❤️❤️❤️

I loved this book, so often in this genre the Heroine who is “super-nice” comes across as weak, but Henri is adorable, I warmed to her immediately and never got frustrated with her. This book made me laugh out loud a good few times, a memorable listen!

Funny

Hilarious. Great narrators. Recommend if you are looking for something funny. The humor is a bit over the top slapstick, a lot of stuff is unrealistic, etc, but it is sweet. And Jason Clarke’s voice is 🔥.

So much fun!

I read the book first and then had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook and I loved it. I spent the first 60% laughing and then the last 40% cycling between swooning and laughing. And this happens not just because of the couple, although Henri and Luca are amazing- funny, sweet, romantic but comedians at heart, but also because the whole cast of characters are hilarious and a true ensemble of people who probably shouldn't work but do because they are family in heart. I absolutely loved being enmeshed in this world with old and new characters that feel familiar to me because they represent the people and, more importantly, the feelings that I wish to feel around me every day. I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to read an early copy of this book.

Back to the couple at hand. Henri has been through 5 engagements, only to have them end when she's dumped. Luca is anti-love so Henri asks Luca to teach her how to be anti-love as well. A series of events happen and they find themselves in a fake relationship but a real friendship. And watching how the friendship grows- the banter, the care, the little things that both do for each other- All the feels. Throw in the crazy Nonna (no one writes a better crazy grandmother than Pippa Grant), funny but supportive teammates and their women, a continued rivalry for the team mascot position, a costume wearing cat, and a very very clumsy heroine (totally reminds me of myself) who writes the most hilarious vampire/shifter novels, and this is a well-rounded rom-com full of heart.

The audiobook features Virginia Rose and Jason Clarke so I had very high expectations. My expectations were completely met- these two narrators were perfect for this audiobook and I really enjoyed their reading. Excellent comedic timing, great command of their voices to play multiple characters and overall, just a wonderful read of a fantastic book that elevated the overall experience.

Another hilarious book

Pippa, I wonder what goes on in your head and how do Jason and Virginia manage to read without cracking up.

I love this, I love the cat, his nona, their hair, her writing (will we get those stories next?), how all the other characters fit in together.

Wonderful, so good I just finished my second listen.

Now do I read again or go back and read the others first?

Average

The narrators were the best thing about this book.
Giant plot holes and implausible scenarios made the story super disjointed. Some reviews claim its funny, but I found the humour a bit slapstick and dry.

Henri is all of us

What’s not to love.

That’s a little bit of Henri in all of us, and what an amazing lead male is Luca.

Pippa delivers her usual nutty love stories and I’m here for it.

Narrators nail it, as per usual, and Jason Clarke referring time himself is genius.

Thank you for introducing me to more people that I wish I could be friends with.
