Publisher's Summary

From high up on the mountain of Manus Wu, Ramora felt she could reach out and touch the clouds. She sat and waited. The fairy had said she would come. She felt in her pockets for the vial of potion and the silver coin. Freedom - she would buy her freedom from the fairy. It was the only way.

A spin off from the P.A.W.S universe.

This is a spin off from the P.A.W.S universe and an interesting and heartbreaking short story.
I was looking forward Romora's story and it was absolutely heartwrenching.
The narrator did a great job in portraying the emotions of the characters.

Be careful what you wish for...

Be careful what you wish for. It's advice that is given by so many to so many, yet is often heeded only when it is too late. Ramora, who has been betrothed on her twelfth birthday to a man who was three times her age, is no different. Desperately seeking a way out of her impending marriage, Ramora makes an agreement with a fairy. But, what is it that the fairy wants in exchange for Ramora's freedom?

I was quite amused by the names of the ingredients required for the potion as Romara gathered them - I don't think I could even spell the names of the creatures from which Ramora gets the ingredients. I also was not surprised at all at the decision that Ramora made, especially given what Rodwin says about her.

Still, I was surprised at what actually happened. Indeed, because of that, it bears repeating... Be careful what you wish for.

There's not much to say about the narrator, Falon Echo, other than that she did a wonderful job with the story.

The grass is always greener

A short tale from the world of P.A.W.S. We get to hear the back story of how Ramora ended up in the situation she’s in. Morgana plays a role...

I really enjoy these short tales by Debbie Manber Kupfer. They are an added bonus, giving more background to the lesser characters in the world of P.A.W.S.

Falon Echo’s narration was well done.

Another nice side story

This is the sixth book I have read/listened to by this author and I am curious to listen to more in the P.A.W.S. world. This book is over my head right now however. I don’t recall Ramora from book one. I am sure this one brings insight. I like short stories or novellas that expand upon the stories of characters. . ——-

This is the first book I have listened to by this narrator ( Falcon Echo ). She did give a fairly distinct sound to each character, but her style is such I didn’t forget I was being read to. Regardless, it would not stop me from listening. She still does a good job. ——-

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence, or swearing. ——-

Good Short Story

This is a good short story giving you background into one of the characters you meet in the P.A.W.S. world. Ramora is trying to avoid marriage when she meets Morgana and makes a deal. She comes to find out that deal might not have been the best thing for her but she is stuck now. But while she is stuck, she has everything she could possibly want, but she is not happy. The narrator did a good job with the story.

Not Worth a Read

I received a copy of this story from the author on StoryOrigin in exchange for an honest review.

A quick short story (less than 30 minutes on the audible version). Ramora is a short tale in the story ARC of P.A.W.S. Truthfully, I'm not even sure how the characters relate to the storyline - possibly it was a small character from Book 1 or most likely wasn't mentioned. This should honestly be more like Book 1.5 instead of Book 2.

The short story wasn't all that interesting. It was more of a quick description of how a character found herself in the situation she was, but since I have no reference to who this character is, it made it really confusing and kind of not worth my time or energy.

My suggestion - don't bother with this "Tale". It doesn't add anything to the storyline.

Narrator was acceptable.

For a short story it was really good!

I usually think with short stories it's hard to make a big impact, but this actually did and I will now be looking at other books by this author

"I will help you."

Story:
Ramora is a young teen, but already old enough for marriage and her parents arrange for her to be wed in three months time to a wealthy merchant.
It will be a bond of convenience, the guy certainly isn't in love with Ramora and she despises him and is desperate for a way out.
One day, when Ramora again contemplates her situation, she finds a fairy hovering by her side. The wee magical being offers her a solution, but there's a price to pay. (Isn't there always?)
Ingredients for a potion have to be found and mixed and she has to steal a silver coin, all to be handed to the fairy on top of mountain Manus Wu in the small hours of her wedding day.
Will it work? Is the fairy to be trusted?

Narration:
Falon Echo's narration is easy to follow and very enjoyable.

Overall:
I love fairy tales, preferably the classics, which are more dark. Ramora would fit nicely into a Brothers Grimm collection. The ending is not what one might hope for Ramora.
I'm not (yet) familiar with the world of P.A.W.S, of which this is a short tale, but the story works fine as a standalone.
Perfect audiobook for a lovely teabreak and five star shaped silver coins from me for Ramora.
