Publisher's summary

Captain Lord Ramage and the Calypso return from Devil's Island, but Ramage's new wife, Sarah, is missing. The captain would like nothing better than to sail home immediately, but instead he is ordered to shepherd a lumbering convoy of merchant ships back to England. On the way, bizarre events lead him to a full court martial in Plymouth, presided over by his old nemesis, Rear-Admiral Goddard. Ramage must clear his name - or face a sentence of death!

Strange Twists Shows Creativeness

Any additional comments?

Pope really came up with some strange twists in this one, that took a while to figure out. The strange twists include a crazy captain, and family problems. I enjoy more naval action than this one had, nevertheless, it took a while to figure where it was headed. Crossley does another superb job at narration.

another good book in the series

if you haven't read the early books you should because it'll give more context to the characters the reoccurring good guys and the reoccurring bad guys. The audio performance as well done. the original books were done in the mid-60s so you have to think about the context of the dates when it was written as well as what it's being written about the Napoleonic wars between Great Britain and France. if you like those type of stories like Sharpe or Hornblower you'll enjoy this.
