Publisher's Summary

Jalia hasn't ever played a game she can't win.

The promise of a queen's ransom is too much for lifelong gambler Jalia to pass up. The untouched planet of Minos is rumored to be so wealthy, one can walk along the beach and pluck diamonds from the sea. According to the contract, all she has to do to win is solve a few puzzles and navigate a labyrinth or two. Simple! But she didn't read the fine print....

She isn't competing to win treasure, she's competing to become queen of Minos. Marriage to the king: mandatory. A king who sends men to their deaths by the dozen kills anyone who dares speak against him, and his people live in fear of his wrath.

Bound by the contract, Jalia has no choice but to try or die while the challenges grow evermore deadly. Even if she wins, marrying the monstrous king of Minos may be a fate worse than death.

Contains mature themes.

Unexpectedly Awesome!

I really didn't know what I was getting myself into with this book. Was it science fiction? Fantasy? Well you know what? It was all of that an then some! We have a witty and compelling main character who overcomes her past and grows. Our love interest is equal parts smart, strong, and kind. The clashing worlds of science fiction and a developing planet is fascinating to learn more about, and I love that we are able to expand the story to different characters and their journeys. I do have to say, at first, there are a few characters that are a bit over the top, and if they had stayed in the story, I would have given this a lower rating. Thank goodness that wasn't the case. As soon as these almost two-dimensional characters are removed, we could focus fully on the main character and kingly love. Please, do this a try!

How refreshing, a complete story.

Action, drama, romance. This book gives you everything. I disagree with the people that said it dragged on. Wroth gave us a complete story and didn't cliffhanger it out for three books, which could have been done with ease. I dare say the epilogue was a bit rushed. The two side characters blazed to a conclusion eventhough it seemed a little out of character for them.

Narration was fine. This book had more than enough characters to warrant multiple narrators. I felt there were times Young was struggling to make them all sound different.

On a side note, the pretend cursing seems juvenile. Tou can write sex scenes but you draw the line at cursing? If it was a character quirk that's one thing but that was not the case.

good plot

The only thing I liked about this story was the plot and the HEA. Some parts of the book felt rushed and it just jumped from one thing to another, making me feel like I missed something; however, it happened more than once during the story. The narrator didnt do a very good job with the voices of all the characters in the book. Some manly characters had girly voices and the hero's voice wasn't very well done.

Unespected loved this!!

I had never heard of this author before but the story sounded interesting and I thought what the heck, let me try it. It ended up being very entertaining and a gripping story. There are some details that I feel were left out and I was a bit confused at times, but for the most part it's an amazing story with lots of adventure, tons of humor, and lots of romance. You can't help but fall in love with the love story between Dega and Jalia. I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves fantasy romance novels.

A different but entertaining romance!

I enjoyed this audiobook very much. The characters were interesting and made me want to keep listening to the story. The setting is the planet Minos, where the king ants to find a wife. His advisor goes out and brings back a group of different alien women who will compete to become queen. The heroine is a human who signed up thinking she was winning a valuable prize, only to find out the conditions after she arrives. The king is gorgeous, but the contestants are problematic. The contests consists of 9 maze challenges, with each one becoming more difficult. The king wants her to win, but can’t just stop the contest and declare her queen.
This story has action, humor and sexy bits. Narration was well done, but I think a male voice could have added to its overall appeal.

Excellent story told extremely well!

With perhaps the exception of one of the Male voices not exactly sounding like one would imagine a Bull's voice to sound, this was a brilliant version of what has become one of my favorite Minotaur stories!
