I wrote about parenting, relationships, life, introspective topics, and shared lots of opinions and stories. However, few players understand exactly how to exploit these games. Competent players who generally play larger stakes will, of course, beat them. In Super Bowl XLIX, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll made one of the most controversial calls in football history: With 26 seconds remaining, and trailing by four at the Patriots' one-yard line, he called for a pass instead of a handing off to his star running back. The pass was intercepted, and the Seahawks lost. Critics called it the dumbest play in history. But was the call really that bad? Or did Carroll actually make a great move that was ruined by bad luck? Even the best decision doesn't yield the best outcome every time.

Most players struggle with AK due to small leaks in their strategy. So Optimizing Ace King (OAK) doesn't look to give you a bunch of memorized plays and tactics. Instead, OAK shows you how AK fits within your strategy and ranges. This prepares you for playing AK, among other hands, in a variety of spots and under a variety of conditions. James "SplitSuit" Sweeney and Adam "W34Z3L" Jones co-wrote this book to take an in-depth look at poker strategy through the lens of a single hand. Concepts include 3betting, 4betting, cbetting, barreling, GTO vs. exploitative play, and more.

Not sure this author has ever played poker
I wanted to make notes on all that was so bad about this book to give a more detailed review but thought of having to listen to this again to make those notes is well, it's not happening.
I honestly have no idea if this author has ever played poker. The first 4 or so chapters are for newbs, what hands beat what, what a flop is, make the best of 5 cards, etc;
The rest sounds like this author skimmed through a bunch of poker books, took what he thought might be relevant and reworded it into his own book. Instead of teaching how to calculate hand odds, he literally says "use the rule of 4 of 2" without telling you how to do it!
Not sure if common poker sayings are different in other countries, but it sounds like this guy has no idea what the common lingo is, and in some parts it sounds like he's making stuff up, badly! (Like if you miss a flop or the turn, river, etc; it's called a "failure". He doesn't refer to AK as big slick, it's the letter a and a king. I wish I could remember more of the weird made up lingo to put in this reveiw, but trust me, do not waste your time with this even if it is given to you for free!

It's ok for very entry level and high level overvi
Doesn't get deep enough into the math. It's also not well scripted as you'll repeatedly hear filler phrases like "in the off chance" or other strange starts to sentences over and over again.

Hard book to follow
This book may have some value in printed form, but it is extremely hard to follow in the audio version. Charts and graphs are read in a manner that make them difficult to understand, terminology used is not common terminology (for example, the flop is often referred to as the failure, and a hands are read weirdly - like “sixty seven fit”...which I assume means 67s, but still not sure) and the narrator gives the impression of not really understanding the topic (although I will say that the narrator’s voice and tone are well presented).
Some of the odd terminology may be common to others, but it was mostly foreign to me. It’s not difficult to interpret, but it makes for a cumbersome experience.
Lastly, the title’s promise of poker math and strategy is a bit misleading....there is not a whole lot of math discussion beyond pointing out that there are mathematical concepts that could be applied. Perhaps the last hour (which is the portion of the book that remained after I chose to stop listening) delves into it more, but I doubt it.
I have enjoyed quite a few audio books on poker, with some being better than others. However, I mostly enjoy all of them and get something out of them. This one, on the other hand, did nothing for me. It was so hard to listen to, I chose not to finish it.
Others may get value from it, but I would not hesitate to recommend choosing to listen to other poker books, while skipping this one entirely.

Narration issues
I felt this book has some good information for an aspiring poker player but the narration made it hard to follow at times. When the book would reference a hand such as “ace, king of clubs” the narrator would read it as the letters “AKc”. This required me to think more about what cards the author was referencing than absorbing the lesson of the material.
The narrator has a great voice, but not for a book on poker strategies.

Great poker math audio book
This audio book is an absolutely fantastic resource for players who want to get quick, practical and implementable advice from someone who has clearly mastered how to apply Game Theory to common poker situations. A lot of common preflop spots have been solved, and in-depth advice and explanations accompany the vast amount of charts that are included in the audio book. Highly recommend buying this audio book.

Impossible to understand...
... not because the book is complicated but simply because the use of the English language is incomprehensible in many places. Its almost like large sections of the book have been put through a malfunctioning thesaurus. One short chapter on Tips was OK (just) but the rest was a complete waste of time.

Story
The Poker Stop-It List wasn't written by a mega pro. It was written by a fellow human who just loves (and now crushes) the game. I’m an established author. I created a blog followed by millions, as well as various books. Over the years, my followers never knew that I had a secret life playing poker. I wrote about parenting, relationships, life, introspective topics, and shared lots of opinions and stories. My gift has always been putting complex concepts and human dynamics into words that others connect with and understand. So, why not do it with poker, too?

Story
Game theory means rigorous strategic thinking. It’s the art of anticipating your opponent’s next moves, knowing full well that your rival is trying to do the same thing to you. Though parts of game theory involve simple common sense, much is counterintuitive, and it can only be mastered by developing a new way of seeing the world. Using a diverse array of rich case studies - from pop culture, TV, movies, sports, politics, and history - the authors show how nearly every business and personal interaction has a game-theory component to it.
