Monique, the daughter of San Diego Chargers football great Earl Faison, married her high school sweetheart soon after she discovered she was pregnant with his child. Her relationship with Chris was shaky from the start, but turned tumultuous as he became verbally and physically abusive. When she could no longer put up with the abuse, she left him with their children. That was when the stalking and genuine threats began. Nothing stopped him - not protection injunctions, police warnings, or even arrests. One fateful Monday morning, Chris kidnapped Monique in front of her children and drove off on a nightmarish car ride that involved car crashes and rape. He mercilessly beat her on the head with a shovel and abandoned her brutalized body in the woods in the rain. He left, presuming she was dead . . . but was she?

I found this story in be a more interesting story of domestic abuse because the victim was a tough lady. Although she was a tough lady, she was unable to escape an almost fatal attack by her husband.

An Amazing Story of Domestic Abuse

Sad and brave story. However, I found too many things u necessarily described, for example: what she packed in her kids lunches and what kind of meds they ga e her for a fractured skull. Unless I feel the author bragged a little too much about her father’s football career when he wasn’t involved much in her life and the story.

Brave but unnecessary details

This book kept my attention from beginning to end. It was well read clear and concise. The author was not afraid to state clearly he triumphs or mistakes. I highly recommend this book.

I wanted to yell out so many times for her to not keep giving this man any chances. It was an emotional story that had me hooked from the beginning. They narrator had a pleasant voice that was soothing and emotional when needed. I really enjoyed hearing her story and am so glad she lived to tell it.

A Courageous Story
