The shocking true story of a bizarre kidnapping and the victims' re-victimization by the justice system.

In March 2015, Denise Huskins and her boyfriend, Aaron Quinn, awoke from a sound sleep into a nightmare. Armed men bound and drugged them, then abducted Denise. Warned not to call the police or Denise would be killed, Aaron agonized about what to do. Finally he put his trust in law enforcement and dialed 911. But instead of searching for Denise, the police accused Aaron of her murder. His story, they told him, was just unbelievable. When Denise was released alive, the police turned their fire on her, dubbing her the “real-life ‘Gone Girl’” who had faked her own kidnapping.

In Victim F, Aaron and Denise recount the horrific ordeal that almost cost them everything. Like too many victims of sexual violence, they were dismissed, disbelieved, and dragged through the mud. With no one to rely on except each other, they took on the victim blaming, harassment, misogyny, and abuse of power running rife in the criminal justice system. Their story is, in the end, a love story, but one that sheds necessary light on sexual assault and the abuse by law enforcement that all too frequently compounds crime victims’ suffering.

I happened upon this book with no previous knowledge of this crime. A tragic and courageous story by two remarkable people. I wish I could give them a hug and buy them a craft beer.

Wow. Just wow.

Shocking situation. VPD totally dropped the ball with their inept investigation. ACSO always professional and glad Det. Noticed similarities. I could not stop listening to this book. The way it was written made it hard to stop listening when I pulled into work.

Very sad situation multipled by a crooked police department. Very informative if ever you find yourself in a similar position. I think it took great courage to relive these crimes, by both the offenders and the police, in order to write this book. To the victims and their family and friends I say God Bless you all!

Sad and eye-opening!

I believed this story when it was first brought to the media. I’ve followed it the whole time. But, wow!!! This was life changing simply reading the story. I’ll just pray for them forever. Their daughter and I are birthday buddies.

Shock!

This is a story that needs to be told and heard. The crime is total insanity, but the way the police handled the victims of that crime is somehow worse in many ways. It’s disgusting. At one point they have people reading the online comments directed at Denise and it’s terrifying to know that these are our neighbors. Denise and Aaron are inspirational in so many ways. The strength and grace in which they handled themselves is simply astounding.

A Rage Inducing Story

I am writing this review - but words fail me. I knew from previous personal experience that there is no justice in the justice system - everything depends on the lawyers one hires - and the amount of money one is prepared to spend on that legal representation in court. I have read about bias and discrimination by the police, but have never heard a personal testimony from the victims themselves.
I found this account horrendous. I still (and probably never will) understand why/how the legal system or the police authorities can/could be so corrupt. I now understand that until there is an independent outside justice system which can oversee the police, nothing will change.
There are two heroes in this story Denise Huskins and Aaron Quinn - may they find solice in the fact that there is only one truth - and that truth will always give strength to the righteous and misery to the liars.
I have only one complaint. The narrator Britnay Pressley's voice was so jarring to my ears that I nearly gave up listening a few times. She seemed to only speak in short bursts of sentences - which I found more and more irritating as the story continued. I had to try and detach myself from her voice and the main character. On the other hand James Fouhey gave a compassionate narration with perfect intonation.
This book is not an easy listening experience - but definitely worth every moment.

This is without exaggeration - a horror story

This story will make your blood boil. However, it is a story of the strength of two people and the family that surrounds them.

This is an absolutely amazing true crime story. I would recommend everyone read this story. Denise and Aaron were let down by law enforcement and their community. Hopefully sharing their horror story can help make things better for victims in the future. I hope Denise and Aaron live a long happy life together. This audible book is 5 stars at every level.

Incredible

That's it. That's all I've got. Just...yeah. Holy s***.

All the craziness they went through, especially being re-victimized and re-traumatized at the hands of local law enforcement AND the FBI...it's insane.

Holy s***
