Realest, most emotionally intense love story I’ve read in months

I have been waiting for another great love story for months now. I read so much that sometimes I just take what I can find. This book was beautiful, real, had depth, was so sexy, and equally creative and fun. I love Robbie and Skylar. Red beard and Rocket. I know it will probably be months again because I come across another great love story… thanks TB, you knocked it out of the park on this one.

Rom com with a splash of smut!

I loved the banter and romance. Just what I needed. Loved their bluntness and honest. Robbie’s personality reminded me so much of my husband back in our college days. Sex scenes were fun too!

I’m super behind on ARC reads (clearly lol) but wow this book was so good!!! I was giggling constantly, the banter between Skylar and Robbie is off the charts amazing!!! Robbie is such a charmer and I loved seeing Skylar bring out the best sides of him. And helping Skylar find the confidence she always had inside her. I have to go back and catch up on the other interconnected books in this series because this was just right up my alley in terms of books that I love to read. And we love a fake dating trope over here so that was just the cherry on top!!! When the faking is no longer fake!!! AHH 😩 I also really liked the idea of the Page Stakes family competition, those little challenges to bring out the quirks in characters is the best! I can’t recommend this enough!!! Also listened to the audiobook and it was amazing Teddy Hamilton and Callie Dalton beautiful work as always!!

I’m not sure what I was expecting but I love this story. Granted, Robbie was a professional athlete in his own right - it’s a nice change to have the female lead as the strong athlete and the man chance her. We need more of that!!!

But wait - what about Madden and Eve? I really hope we get a story about them. They’re mentioned briefly in the end but what was the story?! I have so many questions about their relationship.

Pitcher Perfect is the fourth book of the Big Shots series and features Robbie, a professional hockey rookie, and Skylar, a softball pitcher. Skylar has had a crush on her brother’s best friend for as long as she can remember. She gets Robbie to fake date her to get this other guy’s attention.

Robbie surprised me in the best way! I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about him after seeing glimpses of his character in the previous books, but he totally won me over. He falls for Skylar fast, and he falls hard, and it was so fun watching that unfold.

Skylar was a standout for me. I loved her obsession with planning and scheduling (totally relatable!), and her chemistry with Robbie made for a funny and heartwarming dynamic. Is their story super realistic? Not really but that’s exactly why I read romance: to escape reality for a bit. And this book delivered that escape perfectly.

The dual narration by Teddy Hamilton and Callie Dalton was fantastic. They brought Robbie and Skylar to life in a way that made the story even more enjoyable.

Cute chick-flick

I mean it’s a typical Tessa Bailey. It has fake dating, one bed trope, and one-sided dislike to lovers. It also has insta-lust/love. I like it. It was cute and fun and spicy.

Banter, Spice and Lots of Laughs

This book delivered exactly what I wanted, a feel-good, spicy romance and the perfect palate cleanser. Tessa Bailey is my go-to when I need a quick, entertaining escape, and Pitcher Perfect hit the mark.

It’s the fourth book in the Big Shots series, but you can absolutely read it as a standalone (though you’ll spot a few familiar faces if you’ve read the others).

The story follows Boston Bearcats rookie Robbie Corrigan—a cocky NHL ladies’ man who proudly calls himself an “orgasm donor” (yes, you read that right). Enter Skyler Page, a Boston University softball pitcher who grew up “one of the guys” around her stepbrother and his friends. She’s been nursing a hopeless crush on her brother’s best friend, but when she crosses paths with Robbie, she asks him to teach her how to flirt and finally land her crush. Robbie’s solution? Fake date him during her family’s wild, over-the-top annual Olympics in the woods.

From there, it’s nonstop banter, tension, and laugh-out-loud moments. Skyler’s awkward charm pairs perfectly with Robbie’s protective side, and once sparks start flying… let’s just say things heat up fast. This might actually be one of the funniest Tessa Bailey books I’ve read yet.

Yes, it’s corny. Yes, it’s predictable. But it’s also super fun, spicy, and exactly the kind of quick romance you grab when you just want to smile (and maybe blush a little).
