Just Why? I ask myself that all the time

So many other women saying they wish they had this sooner.. and I’m on that train.
Since this topic is personal by nature, I’m just going to go for it here. I have been on birth control since I was 16 and I’m now 33. I decided to stop taking it in case I want kids and it’s not easy.

Whether you’re just starting your menstrual cycle or you’re any age, really, this book contains so much great information! It’s a fantastic resource for a topic that is uncomfortable to talk about, at least for me.

I would recommend.

Wish I had this when I was a teen!

I came across this book just as my niece was starting menstruating and having a lot of anxiety about it. I am so glad that someone has written about this subject with such care and in-depth research! Even thought all women menstruate, there are lots of misconceptions, stigmas, and misinformation on the subject. I particularly appreciated the section on daily practices women can do to make their period days more emotionally manageable. I wish I had had a guide like this when I was a teen and look forward to gifting this to my niece.

What's going on with your body—and why it matters!

I was surprised by how much I learned. As a woman, I thought I already know a lot about periods. The author did a really great job of explaining how hormones are affecting our bodies and minds, which is something that I don't think most people know about or truly understand. She also goes into the science behind all of it, which was really fascinating for me. Highly recommended!!!

Life changing!

I would highly recommend this book!! It’s given me an entirely new approach on how to deal with my menstrual cycle that makes total sense! In fact I think everyone with a cycle should listen this!

The information and views are invaluable, and written in a way that is really easy to understand, with some brilliant metaphors which really bring it to life. As well as offering excellent advice with regards to harnessing the power of the menstrual cycle, for me it’s been a lesson in female sexuality and just understanding my whole body.

Fascinating in so many ways.

Some info I knew, some I didn't

Love everything about this book. The cultural myth busters were extra fun and, dare I say, comical. I especially appreciated the adult, education approach to EVERYTHING; no silly "down there" or "wee-wee" talk in this book! As a 47-yo woman, I especially enjoyed the information on hormones, fertility and the changes one's body goes through with/ or without external hormone therapies. The symptoms made compete sense and I feel like I can return to this book over and over again with specific questions. The narrator was pleasant to listen to as well. Highly recommend!

Great addition!!!

The book is well written, and very informative, the passion and knowledge found through the text added depth and enjoyment. The reproductive system is a complex system, and not every woman is the same which makes it even more mysterious. This book is packed with straight-forward advice and explains in layman terms the concerns that a woman could have about her menstrual cycle. I believe this will make a great gift for teens, can even be given or thought in school as part of a curriculum. Great addition to any collection. Well done

Periods...

I wish this book was out when I was younger. Audiobooks are so much easier to take in information. Information that's also not just important but necessary if you're a woman who still has to go through the struggles of your menstrual cycle. It's an unfortunate and often times uncomfortable part of a woman's life, but this book is a great guide to help you get through it.

It’s ok

A very basic understanding of the menstrual cycle. Some information is the kinda stuff I got when I was young that honestly made me even more embarrassed to have a period.
It DOES give you a really simple understanding of it all though so if that’s what you are looking for… this book is for you!

disappointing

sadly very superficial and medicalised, the narrators voice adds to how patronising all of it sounds.

Worth it

So, I was drawn to this book by the title. I was nearing my period and I get grumpy when that time of the month nears so I figured, what the hell! I added it to my list. Then parked it there for a while until, trying to distract myself from cramps, I started listening to it and immediately wished I had started earlier. The author's approach makes the book so interesting to listen to and the information makes it worth every penny. I don't think I ever understood periods as I do now.

The book all women needs!

Interesting and informative book. The introduction reminds me of when my period started and how confuses I feel at that time; chapter by chapter, the book explains the science behind the nature of the period. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a woman or knows a woman.
