Publisher's Summary

New York Times bestselling author Ellen Hopkins makes her Simon & Schuster Audio debut with the young adult novel, Perfect.

Everyone has something, someone, somewhere else that they’d rather be. For four high-school seniors, their goals of perfection are just as different as the paths they take to get there.

Cara’s parents’ unrealistic expectations have already sent her twin brother spiraling toward suicide. For her, “perfect” means rejecting their ideals to take a chance on a new kind of love. Kendra covets the perfect face and body - no matter what surgeries and drugs she needs to get there. Sean will sacrifice more than he can ever win back in order to score his perfect home run - on the field and off. And Andre realizes that to follow his heart and achieve his perfect performance, he’ll be living a life his ancestors would never understand.

A riveting and startling companion to the best-selling Impulse, Ellen Hopkins’s Perfect exposes the harsh truths about what it takes to grow up - and grow into our own selves. Because everyone wants to be perfect, but when perfection loses its meaning, how far will you go?

Excellent all the way around

The narrators were awesome, not an annoying voice in the bunch, which can really kill the good book experience. The story and it's characters were totally engaging. Bought several more books by this author.

HONEST EVEN WHEN IT HURTS

Once again Ellen Hopkins has written an amazing book! This book, Perfect - is about how we struggle with many different things in our lives. Generally starting at a young age. I'm not skinny enough, says the anorexic or bulimic. My nose is too big, my breast are too small, Says the girl who is getting plastic surgery at age 16. I'm not smart enough, I'm not good enough to get football scholarship. I'm not strong enough to let people know the real me, I'm a lesbian. I'm not brave enough to let anyone know that I'm a dancer, who is already being noticed by amazing artists that will take me to the next level.
I'M NOT, That's exactly how thousands of our children, teens & even adults feel. And with Social Media it makes it so much easier for bullies to.. Well bully.
We NEED to as parents, grandparents, Aunt's&Uncle's, brothers and sisters, friends and just people who see someone struggling or hurting themselves or others. We are the Frontline of protecting our loved ones. It always starts at home.
There absolutely has got to be more conversations about these issues. We NEED to tell those people we love & don't want to lose... Forever. Teen suicide is more common then many many of us even could imagine.
We need to teach our children/friends/loved ones&even strangers that they CAN DO/BE WHATEVER THEY WANT. THEY CAN TAKE WHATEVER THEY ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT & BECOME..... IT'S OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO HELP, GUIDE... THE I'M NOTS THAT THE CAN, THEY ARE!
This book was absolutely an amazing book. A definite MUST read. Beautifully written.

100% recommended

I love the way the author wrote this book. I'm sure in some point in time we could all relate to at least one of the characters. And it really helps you evaluate what's important in life.

Emotional

this is the first book in a long time to actually make me cry. The very end scene where it tied in Vanessa and Tony, and to hear their final words about Connor, really hit me hard. They were built very well as characters in the book prior to this, "Impulse", and then to tie them into this, with all the other very well built characters, it's emotional. Ellen Hopkins is an amazing auther and I recommend all the other books she has written, as she knows how to A.) Make characters real and B.) how to really give a deep insight to the human mind. I know personally how depression is, and my mind felt very similar to how Vanessa explained in Impulse. All in all, a great author if you can handle a graphic nature and touchy subjects.
