Good settlement building with some unique systems

it was interesting to put mana, chi, and faith into a system, where people have to pick one of the development paths, and they grow substantially different. This book has a lot of fairly unique settlement and society building systems, and generally seems to fall under the exploitative system society trope. There is a fairly large caste of POV characters, but it isn't unmanageable, and they each bring some unique perspectives. I am actually very curious as to where the interpersonal conflicts are going to go in the next book. Overall, compelling story with interesting system mechanics. The narrator took a little getting used to, and had remarkably small pauses between sentences, which was somewhat off-putting in the beginning.

I enjoyed this book and like the sound effects that it has. I'm looking forward for the next one .
