When Eliza's life is threatened, she turns to a handsome veteran for help.

I Left everything I've ever known behind. And it might cost me my life.

The moving truck hadn't even been unpacked when my fresh start went up in flames.

A frightening letter left in my mailbox and signed Always Yours sends me running to the only man in town who can help me.

Driven by his protective nature and a mission he believes comes from God, ex-Army Ranger Lance Knight agrees, despite the fact that I've made it no secret I want nothing to do with him--or anyone for that matter.

The longer we're together, the more I begin to realize that Lance is more than I gave him credit for. Something that troubles me nearly as much as the fact that an unknown man seems to have already claimed me as his.

Trouble is, my admirer has a jealous side, and it's not long before Lance is pulled into the crosshairs right alongside me…

I liked detailed relationships between the men and the women, especially the 2 main love interest characters and the emotions that they explored that were multifaceted.

This book completely pulled me in from the start. I couldn’t stop listening, and by the end, I knew this series is going to surpass the Hunt Brothers series for me.
The characters were well developed, the pacing was strong, and the suspense was spot on. Everything flowed naturally, and the buildup kept me fully invested in the story. The narrators were excellent as well—you can tell they’ve really honed their craft, because their performances elevated the entire experience.
What stood out most to me was how faith was woven into the story. It felt natural and organic, enhancing the characters and the plot without overwhelming it. That balance made the story even more enjoyable and meaningful.
This book was absolutely worth the credit—and the money. I’m already looking forward to starting the next book in the series.

MY TAKE
This was my first book by Ashley, and it was SO good! Man, I just ached for Eliza. She had finally escaped her brutal husband, and is finally finding herself after years of his tyranny and gaslighting. She scared of everything.

Turns out she has reason to be. First there's that way-too-attractive man who shows up on her doorstep to install the water heater. He was NOT the same guy she had ordered it from. And Eliza's paranoia and anger gets directed right at him.

It's a good thing Lance Knight is a good guy. He can't figure out what he did to make Eliza hate him so much. Understandably so considering the way she treats him. But the Spirit is telling him he needs to protect her, and he can see in her eyes the PTSD pain that he sees in his own battle scared eyes (and those of his friends and comrades).

At first, when things happens, it could seem like she's imagining things, but Lance and his security team take it seriously. And then it becomes clear it's not all in her head. Seriously creepy stuff going on with lots of romantic tension and suspense in this Christian story.

Wonderful balance and a swoony conclusion. I listened to the audiobook, and the duo narrators, Savannah Gilmore and Jarman Day, did a fabulous job!
