Worth listening

I found this book relatable, whether you have experience with or just may know someone that has. A K Evans dealt with the subject matter sensitively, and made me believe there is hope for not only Lexi but any readers who can relate. Im so glad I listened. I enjoyed it.

Just love this series..

I cannot say it enough.. I just love this series (heck all of the books). There’s always drama, suspense, and sometimes surprises too.. I live Lexi and Cruz together. And I am always so much more happier when the story has a HEA!!!

Cruz helps Lexi overcome and find love

Crus is the quintessential book boyfriend for any woman who experienced sexual assault! Lexi kept her assault a secret for four years and when she began to have feelings for Cruz, who had asked her out months ago, she started to open up to her friends, brothers, Cruz, and her parents. Cruz's patience and care for her was so beautiful as he and Cunningham Security race to find out why young women, Lexi's age are disappearing. Beautiful story of overcoming past traumas and finding a love that will help you overcome.

The audiobook was well recorded and I enjoyed listening to the book.

Loved the Performances in this One!

I just love experiencing the characters I adore in a new way! Listening to the audio version of “Overcome,” Book 2 in A.K. Evans’s Cunningham Security series was such a treat. The story of assault survivor Lexi Townsend and her journey to an HEA with the yummy Cruz Cunningham thru he’s my heart from the beginning - particularly since Cruz reins in his natural protectiveness and encourages Lexi to rebuild her life on her own terms. Troy Duran (one of my faves!) and Ava Erickson did a wonderful job bringing these characters to life, and I friggin’ adore the sense of history it has since both the hero and heroine are linked to Evans’ debut Everything series and subsequent Hearts & Horsepower lineup. Both narrators were amazing at conveying the raw emotion, the fear and suspense, and all those delicious lip-biters and heart-tiggers that I love about A.K. Evans books. Impeccable!

a story of survival and overcoming

A story of survival and overcoming things that could break you by not allowing them to define you forever. Lexi has been struggling with her assault for years, but as Cruz makes his interest known without being pushy, he elicits a new desire in Lexi to overcome more and embrace a brighter future. Cruz is the perfect match for Lexi and her past, bringing her back to life from the shell she became. But growing danger in their town that has Cunningham on it's trail sets it's sites on Lexi, and action and suspense erupt as Cunningham races to save not only Lexi but many others. Ava Erickson and Troy Duran do an excellent job bringing the story from the pages to your ears.

A story not for the faint at heart

In this second story in the Cunningham Security series belongs to security investigator Cruz Cunningham and Lexi Townsend. I have to confess, I didn’t know how I would feel listening to a story about someone who has been sexually abused, but having enjoyed book 1 in the series, I decided to give it a chance. Glad I did.
Lexi was raped in college and four years later, is still dealing with the aftermath of the nightmare. Up to now, no one knows about it except her therapist, not even her family.
Her relationship with men is almost non-existent and for the first time since that day, feels no fear from Cruz, just safe .
Cruz has been attracted to her , but feels there is something going on with Lexi.
As Cruz helps her trust men again, and helps her gain her power back, a sub-plot develops.
Women are disappearing in Windsor and it seems that human trafficking is the reason.
This is a story about overcoming the past and adversity. In this case , the emotional, physical and psychological damage rape has on an individual. It’s also a story about taking a chance at life and love with the person that will be their support. It’s also a story about new beginnings and new dreams.
The engaging plot and the much loved main characters, especially Cruz, as well as the narrators , brought this story to life.

Heartwarming story of healing trauma from SA

SA is a sensitive subject, but AK Evans did a phenomenal job! Lexi was raped by a partner in college and hasn’t been able to trust anyone since. When Cruz shows interest in her, she just isn’t ready for all that a romantic relationship will bring. With lots of patience and time, Cruz finally wins her trust. Cruz is the absolute perfect gentleman and goes above and beyond to make sure Lexi is never fearful of him. I loved Lexi’s journey to healing and overcoming the fear so that she could help other women going through the same thing. Just when she thinks she can trust again, something happens to break everything she’s worked for.
I cannot end this review without applauding the narrators. WOW! They both did an outstanding job. I hope I listen to many more audios by these two.

Troy Duran & Ava Erickson🥰🥰

These two phenomenal narrators bring this well written audiobook to life!!! I highly recommend it 🫶🏾🙌🏾👏🏾

Emotional and beautiful

After being raped in college by a guy she was dating, Lexi went home to heal. Only she doesn’t tell anyone, including her family what happened. That is until Cruz comes into her life and slowly has Lexi starting to trust again. Cruz wanted Lexi from the first moment he saw her but Lexi was in no position to let anyone in. Once she let Cruz in, she realized he was just what she needed to finish healing and completely gain her life back. Their road to their HEA is meant with a crazy twist of fate, seeing Lexi be kidnapped with the purpose of being sold to a sex trafficking ring. “Captain’ Cruz got his Warrior Princess back thanks to Lexi’s heroism and determination to not be a victim again. Lexi not only saved herself but many other victims being held where she was taken to. The second installment has us hearing more from the other men of Cunningham Security, and I can’t wait to listen to their stories next! This was a beautiful story on a very touchy topic and AK Evans handled it with perfection. The narrators were amazing!

This is a very well written story. Excellent narrators. The storyline is heavy but very well done.
