Napoleon Hill
Following the success of his 1937 landmark best seller, Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill wrote Outwitting the Devil, an exposé on the methods the Devil uses to ensnare and control the minds of human beings. Exploring the innermost depths of the psychology of motivation to understand why so many individuals, including himself, cannot find the initiative and courage they need to consistently implement the philosophy of individual achievement, Hill went so far as to interview the Devil himself.
In this original manuscript is laid out the exact nature of the power by which the Devil disarms human beings with fear, procrastination, anger, and jealousy so that they do not reach their full potential. This is the same power that paralyzed millions of individuals with fear and despondency during the Great Depression and continues to hold people back from their dreams. Complacency and mediocrity are not the root issue; they are symptoms of deeper ills that we are conditioned by society to accept. But you must open your mind to acquire knowledge and consider facts that might not harmonize with your personal beliefs in order to access a greater truth that will, as Hill said in his original preface, “bring harmony out of chaos in this age of frustration and fear.”

On the contents of the book, I thought it was important to hear. It seems that no matter what there will always be things to distract us meager humans, and the problem will only get worse in the Information Age. Best to arm yourself with the knowledge now about how this manifests to eat away at our precious time — as well as our hopes and dreams — so you can keep it in check and wake up each day with a definitive purpose.
Excellent narration, thought provoking

This release is significantly better. No annotations, no interruptions, pretty much the OG source material from Napoleon Hill.
The flow is excellent, the narrator is very good, at times excellent. The devils voice is very well done, I legit smiled when Napoleon passed the mic to “your Majesty”.
This book is top notch, straight up brilliant. It was written in 1938, so references to Joseph Stalin and Adolph Hitler are mentioning in present tense narration. Just shows, nearly 100 years later, how true and timeless the source material is.
This is the best audio version of the book by far. I own this and the Sharon Lechter release and this is easily the best version by far.
I love this book so much, I want to buy this for all my friends, family and business associates.
All in all, a top notch release from arguably the greatest personal development author of all time.

That said, this is an interesting book and I did learn some things. Maybe all the online hype had me expecting mindblowing new material (tho, of course its a very old book), but I am not sure this is quite the life-changing book I was bracing for. That said, its very good, engaging, and fairly brief. It gave me a few things to chew on and some different perspectives, which is all I can really ask for with a book. Either way, it's worth a read.
