Here, he offers in-depth instruction in the tradition’s daytime practices. “Waking experience is also a type of dream”, teaches Holecek, “and things are not as solid and real as we think. This insight is what transforms a non-lucid life into a lucid one.” For those drawn to Tibet’s profound teachings for awakening to the true nature of reality - in the day or night - this guide shows us the way.

Story
Progressive Stages of Meditation on Emptiness is a series of meditation practices on Emptiness, a particular aspect of the Buddha's teachings. The idea is that by beginning with one's first rather coarse commonsense understanding, one progresses through increasingly subtle and more refined stages until one arrives at complete and perfect understanding. Each stage in the process prepares the mind for the next in so far as each step is fully integrated into one's understanding through the meditation process.

Story
It is said that the practice of dream yoga deepens our awareness during all our experience: the dreams of the night; the dream-like experience of the day; and the bardo experiences after death. Indeed, the practice of dream yoga is a powerful tool of awakening, used for hundreds of years by the great masters of the Tibetan traditions. Unlike in the Western psychological approach to dreams, the ultimate goal of Tibetan dream yoga is the recognition of the nature of mind or enlightenment itself.

The so-called Tibetan Book of the Dead has been renowned for centuries as a cornerstone of Buddhist wisdom and religious thought. More recently, it has become highly influential in the Western world for its psychological insights into the processes of death and dying - and what they can teach us about the ways we live our lives. It has also been found to be helpful in the grieving process by people who have recently lost their loved ones. This authoritative translation preserves the form and spirit of the original and was prepared especially for Western audiences.

The paradox of awareness is very profound and yet very simple. It can't be described because it has no objective qualities and no limitation. Sometimes it comes naturally to the surface when we are fully in the present moment and no longer lost in thought or mental projections. Pure consciousness is neither high nor low, neither pleasant nor unpleasant, neither good nor bad. No matter where we are, no matter what we are doing, we always have an immediate access to that inner stillness.

Perfect Meditation Book To Bring You Happiness
What did you love best about Our Pristine Mind?
I read the Book "Our Pristine Mind" and I was waiting for an audio book to be available. It was always something that I thought would be helpful to listen to in a car, while I'm walking, or to complement my meditation practice. I was right! I started listening to it on my commute, and I really feel like it puts my entire day into perspective and gives me a new way to view the world.
What other book might you compare Our Pristine Mind to and why?
I don't think there is a meditation book available today apart from this one that captures the entire end-to-end path of meditation and explains the concepts of enlightenment for a modern audience in a way that is approachable and achievable with practice.
Which scene was your favorite?
The guided meditation was my favorite.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Meditation is not what you think.
Any additional comments?
I really think this book helped me discover my untapped potential. I listened to the book as soon as it was available, and I noticed while I was driving or walking how much comfort, peace, and joy I felt from listening to the book. It feels like the type of book I will listen to again and again.

Priceless insight
For decades, I have just once in a while slipped into a sublime state - usually when in some encounter with nature. Alongside this, I have from time to time tried to develop a meditation practice, sensing that this was the route to being able to access this sublime state on a more repeatable and regular basis. Achieving that access has so far eluded me. Orgyen's book provides simple and beautiful insight into this connection and how to make it a part of your everyday experience. I realise now that slipping into this state for me is as simple as becoming absorbed in my immediate experience and allowing the distractions of what Orgyen calls "mental events" to fall away to reveal a world of spectacular beauty. After decades of not quite getting meditation, Orgyen has in the space of a couple of listening to this book provided me with a key that I intuitively know will transform my everyday experience and accelerate growth of a much more beautiful way of spending the balance of my life. Orgyen, where were you when I was twenty?!!!

Clear easy to follow and powerful.
I've read this many times including while on retreat and nothing has been clearer or more effective. It's probably better after you've done a little meditation since it doesn't say much about meditation on the breath but it gives the clearest feel for the practice I've ever read.
