This was a exciting and engaging story with plot twists same an unexpected ending! The reader also did a great job, creating sound profiles for each character. He did his job so we'll that I found myself lost in the story, which is perfect!

Great story, great reader!

I've always loved Jules Verne, but hadn't heard of this book. It is historical fiction set from Russia west to Siberia published in 1876. Not all of what happens is based in fact, but the power of the story makes much of it feel as if it could have happened just like that.

Michael Strogoff is a courier of the Czar and must get a letter to Irkutsk because telegraph lines have been cut. Strogoff meets several characters such as a teenage girl, Nadia, two foreign reporters, some people that help along the way, and then the traitor Igan Ogareff. He is a key player that you'll want to keep track of while you read or listen to this. The journey isn't easy and things go very badly.

It isn't science fiction, but there are some parts of the plot that depend on Verne's understanding of science. I love how Verne always mixes facts of and impressions about places. The action takes place from summer into fall, but it is just coincidence that I listened to it in October.

The narration was bizarre. It was overacted with exaggerated and unnecessary accents. I give the story 4 stars, but wonder if it would have been 5 stars if I had heard someone better narrate it. It is a freebie, included in Audible plus catalog. There are a couple of other narrations that aren't very expensive, but even they didn't seem fabulous when I sampled them. I think a great narrator ought to take on this book and give us a reading that gives it better treatment and fewer overdone accents.

Fantastic novel with terrible narration

Like normal there is very little detail when action happens. Over amount of details for useless stuff. Good storyline though.

Good story boring writing.
