Immediately relevant guidebook in the wake of the murder of Charlie Kirk

I started reading (listening to) this book after the president recommended it. He hasn’t steered me wrong yet. I just finished it this evening on September 14th, 4 days after the assassination of Charlie Kirk. I’d have finished it sooner, but it has been a crazy few weeks. Two major life events, including the birth of my second child last week, and then the death of Charlie. I’m not an emotional man. However, Charlie’s murder this week was only bearable because of my faith and my family. They are beauty in my life where darkness has become so forward and overtly wicked. I’ve felt this sense of pain four other times in my life before. I know it, unfortunately, too well. I felt it on 9/11/01 when I woke up to my mother’s cries to turn on the TV only to see the second tower get hit and hear my mother moan in grief from the other side of the house. I felt it when my wife and I lost our children after each of our three miscarriages. I never knew Charlie personally, but I felt the same grief. Like something terrible was lost for our country and taken from my family, personally. Like my God-given rights and the rights of my two children were taken away from me in the most violent and merciless way. Mr. Scott, I know you didn’t write this book knowing it would relate to this terrible event….but it does. EVERYONE needs to read this book right now. Everything feels so dark, and if they won’t get into the WORD directly, then this is the next best and immediately relevant AMERICAN thing that people need right now. We need to get back into the light, shamelessly. Thank you for the book sir.

Greatness of America

Senator Scott is a masterful story teller. His delivery of Americans doing extraordinary deeds brought me to tears many times. I remember reading many of these stories in grade school in the early 1950’s and hope they can return to our classrooms with the same delivery. I can imagine using Senator Scott’s book or the audio version to tell our students of the greatness of the American idea and the men and women that have kept that greatness alive.

Wonderful narration and relevant stories

So refreshing to listen to a book with interesting true stories focusing on how God has been with our people and our nation since the beginning. Tim Scot has a wonderful voice with great inflection. In a world filled with chaos this book provided a reminder that adversity has always been with us and with God’s help we will persevere just as others before us have done so.
