(Originally published November 2011)

Some wallflowers bloom at night...

Violet is a quiet girl. She speaks six languages, but seldom raises her voice. The gentlemen aren’t beating down her door.

Until the night of the Spindle Cove Christmas ball, when a mysterious stranger crashes into the ballroom and collapses at Violet’s feet. He’s wet, chilled, bleeding, and speaking in an unfamiliar tongue.

Only Violet understands him. And she knows he’s not what he seems.

She has one night to draw forth the secrets of this dangerously handsome rogue. Is he a smuggler? A fugitive? An enemy spy? She needs answers by sunrise, but her captive would rather seduce than confess. To learn his secrets, Violet must reveal hers - and open herself to adventure, passion, and the unthinkable...Love.

loved it

I basically love anything read by Mary Jane Wells (including Captain Jack's Woman although she's undera different name). I welled up with tears also felt so proud of Violet and her strength. She covered all her points very well. Gosh she was so strong. I absolutely LOVED HER!

Very good

I would probably listen to more of the Spindle Cove books if they were narrated by MJW. But unfortunately they are not. This is a nice read and good short story.

Amazing as always!

Mary Jane Wells is just outstanding! This was my first mini-story of sorts from Tessa Dare and she developed it beautifully with dynamic characters. Loved it!

Wonderful addition to Spindle Cove series

This truly is book 1.5 filling a small gap between book 1 and 2. A wonderful addition to the series. Familiar characters and a unique story.

Returned It

I loved the set up and start to this story and settled in for another good Spindle Cove drama, then it fell away. The main female character was pathetic. She's forgiven him for distroy her life and heart within minutes with basically no apology and the main male character has zero real character depth before the reader is supposed to empathize with him. Narration was good. Returned.
