Publisher's Summary

The Powerful Concluding Novel to The Restoration Chronicles

When news that the wall of Jerusalem is broken down and its gates have been burned with fire, Nehemiah, Jewish cupbearer to King Artaxerxes in Persia, seeks God's guidance. After fasting and prayer, he's given leave to travel to Jerusalem and rebuild the city wall, not anticipating all the dangers that await him on his arrival. The leaders of the surrounding nations become his fierce enemies, plotting to assassinate him and halt the work. A drought, meanwhile, has left the country impoverished, many families resorting to selling their children as bondservants just to keep from starving.

Capturing the rebuilding of the wall through the eyes of a number of characters, On This Foundation is a powerful exploration of faith in the midst of oppression and hope that, in spite of appearances, the gracious hand of God is upon those who believe.

The Restoration Chronicles Book 3

I absolutely loved this series!!! Lynn Austin is by far my favorite author. This is a biblical fiction series occurring during the lives of the prophets. This specific book involves Nehemiah.Lynn Austin is able to take the story of Nehemiah and make it so riveting that you can't stop listening. After each book, I went to the scripture and was surprised to find hour incredibly accurate it was. Entertaining and educational. I would recommend reading this in order and if you have not read the Gods and Kings series, then do so before this series. Amazing. You will not be disappointed.

I just am overwhelmed with joy and amazement

This book alone is wonderful. I love Ezra being in it just wish I wish Zachariah from book 2 , his twins were in it. I kept waiting to hear their names to come up. But anyhow I learned so much about my Lord Jesus ancestors and faith so much. Thank you very much for all this and for teaching on true humility and forgiveness and how son gets in our lives so easily. I hope she writes more. I teared up in the end praying to the Lord also. I sure hope tons of MEN read these books not just women. I know many men won’t read books written by women (even women won’t) but that’s so sad because this I feel is definitely for men more than anyone really. But of course everyone. But it’s good teaching for the men of today because there’s no balanced healthy teaching for men teaching them how to be men and righteous leaders and godly men and husbands and loving yet firm yet merciful fathers. I love to write but I’ve never been around men like these fathers or godly good men so the things they said I could never have come up with since I’ve never heard it. I don’t know any men who talk like these godly men. Yet I know it’s how God would want it to be. I’m sure they are out there, I’ve just never heard them. And I’m a Christian and gone to church for a long time. Men could really learn a lot from this. I know I sure learned a lot from the women but they talk the way they talk because of the care and love and respect and kindness showed to them even when firm. Such a good book. I wish my kids had such a family to be brought up in.

Beautiful story

Thoroughly enjoyed the Biblical plot. The characters were memorable and the plot brought excitement, anticipation and great joy. Lynn Austin has been one of my most favorite authors and will continue to be.

biblically true

excellent stories!! this is the last in the series (the 2 series sort of follow each other. I listened to the other series-gods and kings- before this one and it fits well.)and I enjoyed each book thoroughly!! I really appreciate that the author didn't turn these true accounts into romance novels. there is romance in here (and it's part of real life; makes it more realistic) but not the gruel details which would make the story immodest or inappropriate. Thank you. Also, I reviewed the scripture portions containing these stories again while listening and found everything accurate and biblically sound! that's a true treasure! the author has obviously done a lot of study and research, putting in a lot of extra effort to make sure the stories were written accurately. That, combined with ingenuity and a lively imagination, has made these stories a TREASURE. I'll never forget them. THANK YOU. May God bless your honesty and hard work.

Wonderful account of Nehemiah

This is the last book in the Restoration series and I enjoyed it as much as the first two. I also enjoyed the interweaving of some of the characters from those books.

Interesting story about Zechariah building wall

I’ve listened to all of Lynn Austin’s audiobooks , especially the series she has. I liked this one however not as well as all of the others she’s written. I cannot pinpoint why this story line was different listening than the others leading up to book #3; It was not bad, just did not hold my attention as the others

On This Foundation

excellent performance. Of the Restoration Chronicles series, this book was my least favorite, which I think was due to it being the last book; did not want the series to end . Captivating stories of real-life characters and historically fascinating. No matter how knowledgable you are of Biblical text, you will learn something new and interesting.

Brilliant

I loved these books. They are, in my view, a brilliant use of Scriptural truth and fictional imagery to make a whole. The narration is very good, and done in the professional way of keeping charachters separate by voice alone. I'm very impressed and grateful for the books.
