Publisher's Summary

She's the one thing he can't control....

Keenan is the mistake Khloe knows she shouldn't make. As an incubus, he's got an inside track into everything that makes her tick, and even though she's immune to his supernatural (and frankly unfair) sex appeal, that doesn't stop her body - and her demon - craving him. If it were any other male she'd have worked it out of her system ages ago and moved on, but this time she's scared that if she ever gives in, she won't escape unscathed.

Since Keenan's traumatic childhood, he's made sure he's always in control. Of himself and of the world around him. But Khloe drives Keenan crazy. She's an imp, so getting under people's skin is basically her job description, but Khloe makes him - and his body - respond in ways he's never known.

After a bet escalates the simmering tension between them, it's finally game on...and then the game turns deadly serious. A threat appears that could threaten the whole lair, and Keenan's desperate to protect Khloe any way he can - but will she accept his claim, and can he accept the power she has over him?

If you love this audiobook, make sure you check out the rest of the Dark in You series - find out how the sizzling story began....

Whoops!

. I’ve been waiting for Chloe story for a while, so I was thrilled when this book released.

I would give this a 5 stars if it weren’t for the production errors. There were times when the narrator repeated entire sentences over and over, as if they’d taken a break and forgotten where they left off. There was even a spot where it sounded like they were speaking to somebody outside the booth in the background and then came back to the narration, but they forgot to edit those bits out.

Audio needed to be checked

Good story. But more than once there was some random words in the story. For example at the end of chapter 18. I’m sure it’s not in the book, but it’s in the audio. Repeated sentences and ransoms words.

Definitely worth a credit!

I like all the characters in the Dark series and this is a great new addition. Baby Asher is really surprising and I can't wait to see what other powers he has. I thought the paranormal fight scenes in this book were great with hell fire being thrown all around. Bring on the next couple and keep the action coming!

🌻I even shed a tear or two😭🌻!

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

This chapter of the, Dark in You series, is a lot like the previous books. The Hero and Heroine have been dancing around and denying their attraction, towards one another, for years. They both have emotional scars that affect their ability to share a truly intimate relationship, with another. However, a bet placed, between the two, starts them down a common path. Unfortunately, a threat against the Heroine, makes the Hero start to acknowledge his true feelings. During this relationship dance, tragedy strikes, and they both are forced to acknowledge that they may have waited too long. Regret is always a bitter pill to swallow.

The books, in this series, all have graphic, detailed sex scenes, that may make some people uncomfortable; but it’s usually this way in SW’s books. The characters are demons, so there is also a lot of violence and foul language. In addition, these books are not good stand alone books. If a listener hasn’t listened, from book one, they will be very confused about this demonic world. However, if you have enjoyed SW’s shifter series, you will likely enjoy this series, also.

All the stars for Aunt Mildred!

I have loved Khloe's character since book 1. Her brand of wit, sarcasm and humor is just my jam. I love Khloe's carefree attitude. This book had me laughing out loud from the first chapter. Khloe's character is a balance of humor, fierce badassery and good heart. Keenan took his sweet sweet time with Khloe.
The only thing that I did not like about this story was the fact that Keenan rested the pressure of defeating the enemy on Knox's shoulders, hence giving their years of friendship a big big gap. It was understandable, but I feel like as the male protagonist and an alpha, Keenan should have had more role in defeating the enemy instead of passing on the burden to Knox.
This book opens up a good precursor to Raini and Maddox's story.
And really, I want more of Aunt Mildred!

Good story, issues with the audio recording

There was a segment in this audiobook that had the narrator speaking to someone and then it went back and repeated an earlier read section.

Loved the story

Omens is the perfect follow book in the Dark in you series. Chloe and Keenan is pure magic. I stated laughing as soon as the first few words were spoken.

The good of the book.
Chloe is a gem. She is an extremely complex which is quite the surprise. Chloe has been presented as the airhead danger seeking troublemaker. She was seen as a danger to herself with no sense of responsibility or focus. Man you would be majorly surprised to find out that Chloe is not just funny and ditzy. she is caring and compassionate. Extremely talented and fiercely independent. Love her.

Keenan is more than a pretty grouchy face. He is emotional and loving. It was great seeing Keenan being more than Knox's Sentinel. I was happy to see him willing defer his role to others so that he could be there for Chloe.

This book offers many surprises and continuation of storylines. Of course all of the series favorites make an appearance especially Lu. It is worth adding to your library.

Here is the problem there is repetition in the audio mostly near the end of chapters. However the biggest flaw is Cat has a conversation with someone in the middle of the audio around the 10:09:22 section of the audio that was not edited out. That is the only flaw that I have outside of disjointed relationship with Teague and the introduction of Maddox.

Excellent pre-cursor to Bailey's story

Can't wait to hear the story about what was the deal Rainey made with Maddox.

the narration wasn’t for me

I really love Suzanne Wright’s demon universe. I think I’d enjoy the story more if Chloe and Keenan didn’ sound so nasally. I loved seeing more of Asher in this. I can’t wait for Maddox and Ranni.

The Imp and The Incubus

This book is part of the Dark In You series and has the same characters as earlier books, but focuses on different characters than the first few books. This book focuses on Khloe, Harper’s cousin and co-worker, who is an Imp and Keenan an incubus who is one of Knox’s sentinels. They have been dancing round each other for a long time but they have both got serious fears about commitment and that has kept them apart for so long. Finally a bet tips them over the edge and they realise that they fallen into something they can’t control, for once.

It’s no secret that I love Suzanne Wright’s work and this has to be one of my favourite series. I find the idea of demons being bonded with their human side fascinating, add in the idea of an anchor to help balance the demon, often becoming almost like a sibling, and the obsession of the demon when it claims it’s mate and random powers and politics of demon Lairs and you have a great mix for paranormal romance.

Khloe is a character that could drive some readers crazy. She’s quixotic and annoying (on purpose). However, she’s loyal, amusing and unassumingly powerful. Keenan is one of the more rigid characters in the series. He’s usually quite serious and has iron control on himself. Pushing those two characters together has always created fireworks and this book is no exception.

One thing I liked about this book was learning more about Khloe’s Lair, which is headed up by her and Harper’s grandmother, Joleen. It’s nice to visit with her family and find out more about their relationships with each other as imps are hilarious.

As always, Cat Doucette does a great job narrating. She captures the characters’ personalities really well and is engaging to listen to. The narration definitely adds to the enjoyment of the book, and I recommend listening to it instead of just reading it.

There were a few hints dropped about who might be in the next book and I’m intrigued as to how that might go, but I’ll have to wait patiently for it to come out to see if I’m right.

Loved the story line

Really enjoy this series of books and this one was no different.
Although I found some of the naughty scenes can all be a bit of the same and drag out a bit.
Also there is far too many mistakes by the narrator that just kills the mood. In the end of chapter 18 in a really tense battle but you here the narrator have a conversation with someone in the background. So I can’t give this more stars. I love the narrator I think she has done a great job on this series but just too many mistakes and line repeating in this book.

Much awaited...

It was really great to finally get Khloe and Keenan's story...

Prior to listening, I was interested to find how Khloe would come across as a main character... Upon completing this book, I felt she was portrayed to have hidden depths not always seen as a supporting character in previous story's.

There were a few minor editing errors but other than that, narration was great!

Omens

This is a great story about Chloe and her fight and fall in love. Loads of good characters with plenty of struggle between her and Keenan. Read brilliantly by Cat Doucette.

Great story. Bad editing of narration

Loved the book. Suzanne Wright is an amazing author and these characters and storylines are fantastic. Biggest gripe with this audio book is that there is several times where the narrator repeats lines, and one part in the book that was clearly meant to be edited out where the narrator is talking to someone (approx 2.5 hours from end of book). Otherwise good narrator.

Keenan is the weakest hero of the series

Keenan is the weakest hero of the series with no unique powers. what he could do was too similar to Knox's abilities - especially during sex scenes.
Khloe was hilarious and I liked her a lot.
The villain/s were overpowered, IMO. For the ultimate badass, Knox did f**k all to help in fight scenes.
The girls' random drunk conversations were the absolute best part of the story. Love their crazy bantering.

Overall; a weak addition to the series because the couple just didn't live up to expectations.

If the next book is about Maddox, I will get it because he sounds like a great new character and it does look like all the girls are getting their HEAs.
