Publisher's summary

I’m about to sing you the saddest song in the universe, and it’s called “The Man of My Dreams Married My Sister”.

It’s kinda my theme song. And trust me when I tell you, it’s heavy on the violins.

Because the man in question? He’s not just any guy, he’s Rafe freakin’ Goodman

My former best friend.

The boy who made my summers on Whispering Key magical. The guy who inspired every love song that led to the chart-topping music career I have today. The man I always sort of figured would wait for me, while I pursued my dreams and finally found a way to tell the world I was gay....

But instead of waiting, he married Aimee.

Rafe and Aimee’s marriage has been over for a while now, but it doesn’t really matter. He doesn’t love me even though I feel like I’ll love him until the day I die. Trying to be “just friends” would tear me apart.

We’re a broken chord. A blue note. Hopelessly out of tune.

Or so I thought.

But when circumstances throw us back together on a crazy cross-country road trip, suddenly all kinds of secrets come to light that make it seem like maybe our show’s not over yet.

If I want a life with the man of my dreams, though, I’ll have to be honest - with Rafe and the rest of the world, too - and find the courage to write us a new song.

One that’s exactly like us: perfectly imperfect...and a little off key.

enjoyable fluff

I haven't listened to any other books in the series, but don't feel like it harmed my enjoyment. It's a nice story, funny characters, zany plot lines and just a good time. Nothing too deep, nothing too involving, but fun

May Archer does it again!!!

I absolutely loved this book!! May did a fantastic job and Michael Dean did a wonderful narration!! I loved every moment of it. I love the Whispering Key residents, they are all so nutty and fabulous. I can't wait to see what comes next for Gage.

Another story to feel great with

This story shared some of the same characters and history, as well as the love of the others. Come join the family on Whispering Key!

Jay and Rafe - swoony perfection

This book was so ridiculously and also so deliciously good. Jay and Rafe are former best friends with all their hurtful misunderstandings perfection and watching them stumble through to their HEA was painfully beautiful. They are real, relatable people who have flaws, but are really trying to just do their best as the messy humans they are. Rafe has lived his whole life on Whispering Key, an island in the Gulf. His best friend growing up was Jay who spent summers on the Key. Unfortunately, Jay was straight so his crush was squelched. Then Jay became a famous rockstar and they drifted apart. A road trip that starts with a kidnapping allows them to deal with their painful past and all the misunderstandings. This book was filled with all the sweet moments, past pain, steamy scenes, quirky townsfolk, supportive family and friends, small town goodness, character growth and missteps, snort worthy ridiculousness, and all the love. Get ready to feel all the things along with Jay and Rafe - you’ll swoon, cry, laugh, grit your teeth, and sigh (out of happiness and frustration). I cannot wait to see what’s next for the final Goodman in the new series.

I love Michael Dean’s narrations. As always, he did a phenomenal job narrating the story and breathing life into the characters with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly.

Love Love Love

Another great story from May Archer. Love this series with its laugh out loud lines and characters. It’s great how she keeps bringing them along with each book. I had already read the books but I love the audibles too. You just get something more out of them. Rafe and Jay’s story showed that that trying to protect the ones you love causes more problems than just telling the truth. I love how they seem to create a family out of love not always blood. If you’re looking for great light hearted stories this is the series to read.

Terrific Conclusion to a Great Story

I was wondering how this fantastic story was going to end. The characters throughout the Whispering Key storyline were so well developed I wondered how the author was going to conclude the storyline where everyone seemed to come to an end and yet made everything work out such that there was a good conclusion. I was not disappointed in the least. In fact I was elated by the conclusion. The series could have gone on for another book as I thought the ending was a bit abrupt, but I was not disappointed. A great story with many characters that I will not forget.

Exceptional!

What a story to round out the other two. It had all delicious enemies to lovers bit that faded away when the two guys realized thier "hate" was mostly "assumptions". The comedy was ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ and smex scenes were 🔥🔥🔥🔥.

There was a part where I heard "Maid Marion" (as in Robin Hood) and though it was cheeky reference to "Made Marion" aka "Burrowing Blue" by Lucy Lennox. (which I heartily endorse as another 5⭐ listen)

I love this book. Rafe and Jay are so utterly, scrumptiously perfect for each other.

Boring and badly executed

I was super excited to get this one, but it was a letdown. Insanely slow, 98% of the story is inside a car with the same talk and thoughts over and over again. The characters are fun, but they never do anything; they could've stop in different random places like the strange adult place they saw on their way or maybe a crazy little carnival, and fall in love again instead of 5hours of just talking inside a car.
As a person with a heart condition, I can say Jay's sister is ridiculous and psychologically insane to destroy lives just because she's sick... damn, find a better reason for what she did, or else she's just petty and plain evil.

Love Whispering Keys

Absolutely loving this series and cannot wait until Gage's story comes out...possibly with Jay's friend, Oak? 😍
All the island residents are cookie as hell and so adorable.
There are touching moments and also lots of hilarious moments! I laughed out loud many times and as always, Michael Dean is Amazing and the perfect guy to tell the story.
