Awesome Narration

I enjoyed listening John Solo, enthusiastic and sexy narration of The Selkie Prince's Fated Mate.

The Selkie Prince's Fated Mate is a fresh take into the MM, shifter Omegaverse romance trope.
The Folklore and Lore surrounding the mystical Selkies - humans that shifter into seals - is quite different than those of wolf, bears , lions, etc., I found those myths intriguing and interesting.

This book have lots and I mean , A LOT of sex that's because la raison d'être and main plot is for Kai to get Luke pregnant with their pup. That means descriptive ,graphic, smutty hot sexy times all over the kingdom.

Overall, The Selkie Fated Mate is entertaining in an OTT soap opera/Mexican novela kind of way. The heroes are sweet and horny all the time. The secondary characters help with the word building and the antagonistic anti-heroes histrionics and evil plans are so ridiculous that end up being funny.

I read this book when it was first released and recently had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook. What follows is my original review of the story and an added part for my review of the audiobook.

This is the first book I've read by this author and but it certainly won't be the last. I loved Kai and Luca together and was rooting for them the whole time. I also enjoyed that this was a shifter form I have not yet read as most are bears, wolves, and dragons. It was nice to explore that realm. There was a cast of characters who were all well written. I'm excited for the next book in the series.

The narrator was good. He did an excellent job of distinguishing the voices he gave to all the different characters. It was easy to hear when a new character was talking, even if the words didn't identify that right away. The reason for four stars instead of five for performance was because the narration was a little dramatic, even in times that weren't full of drama. It wasn't enough to turn me off to listening to it though and I would still listen to another book by this narrator.

Loved It

I really enjoyed listening to this story. This is the first audio book I've gotten by JJ Masters and I have now gotten the other books in this series for my KU. The narrator does an excellent job letting you know which character is talking. Great job.

GOOD START.

Enjoyable. Very well written. This is the first book from J J Master for me and I'm very impressed with his writing. There're tensions and lots of emotions very well performed by John Solo. The romance of Prince Kai and his omega, Luca is so beautiful. With the king giving conditions things are getting very stressful for the young couple. The story flows smoothly with John Solo's flawless narration which makes the listening most enjoyable. Worth the credit.

less empahsis on Anal leakage would be nice

interesting concept. but the main focus is on sex and not romance or any kind of plot.

there was a constant empasis about anal leakage aka slick. This is more of a transgendered story than a gay story because the author basically turned one of the men into a woman.

Great Beginning!

I absolutely love the beginning of this series. JJ Masters has done a fantastic job with this storyline, and writing. Each of the characters are well defined. I love Prince Kai & Luka. John Solo did an superb job in his narration of each character. He really brought them to life. If your looking for a really gratifying to start, I recommend you start here!

Great beginning

Great beginning to a new mpreg shifter series. It’s the first one that I’ve read to feature Selkies. The way they shift was interesting to me, and nothing like I’ve read before. The plot is the typical royal prince must beget an heir, and omegas have basically no rights, and the King is a royal douche canoe plot. And it’s done very well, so I’m happy because I love that trope. I love that love trumps all the royal b.s. and that the new generation will forge new paths. The setup for the rest of the series is well done and very intriguing. I loved the two main characters, their connection, and the fact that they aren’t your typical perfect characters. Kai has some of his father’s traits (he can be a jerk) and Luca was not your typical chaste omega. He’s quirky and fun, but you can get a sense of his underlying vulnerability.
The narration by John Solo was as outstanding as ever. I love his voice especially when he is acting the part of the omega type roles. They just suit him very well. I get so lost in his narration because he IS the characters. I can really get a mental picture of his characters as I am listening because he brings them to life. I am very definitely looking forward to reading and listening to the rest of the series, and I definitely recommend this new adventure.

The Royal Alphas, Book 1: The Selkie Prince

This is the first book I have read or listen to by J.J Masters and I will definitely read/listen to more.
While I felt this book has a great story line and I am looking forward to the next book I did feel like the chemistry between the Omega (Lucas) and the Alpha (the Selkie Prince: Kai) was somewhat forced or lacking. I feel that it had more to do with the narration than the actual story but no mater what I still enjoyed the book. I enjoyed the comedy that came with the brothers all being together (especially the youngest brother - I am really looking forward to his story). I also found the concept of the shifting to be unique and unlike anything I read at first. While at first I was confused this had nothing to do with the story but that I had never read/listened to anything like it. It makes this story truly one of a kind in my eyes.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to continuing my journey with the Selkie clan and others by J.J Masters.

Fated mate

The king was an obnoxious overbearing D bag that I couldn't stand . Nic was such a whiny loser and beyond pathetic when he confronted Kai! I had a lot of empathy for Luca and his tenuous position and all the demands and stipulations that the king kept putting on their relationship. The King's redemption was the highlight of the story. He changed his mind and kinda apologized and got a hug much to his dismay and his family's entertainment!! lol. The narrator did a great job. I voluntarily listened to this and am giving an honest review.

Finding love in the craziest way

This is a great story with a different twist to a shifter romance. The characters are well developed and have great chemistry. Kai can be all alpha but when it comes to Luca he is a big teddy bear. Luca is sweet and sometimes I want him to be more bold and stand up to the king but he has his own way of dealing with things. Luca and Kai are perfect for each other and just a warning the king will have you wanting to hit something.
