There is little more terrifying than those who hunt, stalk, and snatch their prey under the cloak of darkness. These hunters search not for animals, but for the touch, taste, and empowerment of human flesh. They are cannibals, vampires, and monsters, and they walk among us. These serial killers are not mythical beasts with horns and shaggy hair. They are people living among society, going about their day-to-day activities until nightfall. They are the Dennis Rader's, the fathers, husbands, church-going members of the community.

Charles Darwin's theory of organic evolution-the idea that life on earth is the product of purely natural causes, not the hand of God-set off shock waves that continue to reverberate through Western society, and especially the United States. What makes evolution such a profoundly provocative concept, so convincing to most scientists, yet so socially and politically divisive? These 12 eye-opening lectures are an examination of the varied elements that so often make this science the object of strong sentiments and heated debate.

Story
John Douglas once again takes us fascinatingly behind the scenes, focusing his expertise on predatory crimes, primarily against women. With a deep sense of compassion for the victims and an uncanny understanding of the perpetrators, Douglas looks at the obsessions that lead to rape, stalking, and sexual murder through such cases as Ronnie Shelton, the serial rapist who terrorized Cleveland; and New York's notorious "Preppie Murder". But Douglas also looks at obsession on the other side of the moral spectrum: his own career-long obsession with hunting these predators.

Not since The Thin Blue Line has there been a true-crime saga as engrossing as Making a Murderer. Captivating audiences across demographic lines, it made Steven Avery a household name and thrust defense attorney Jerome F. Buting - and his fight against America's dysfunctional criminal justice system - into the spotlight. In Illusion of Justice, Buting uses the Avery case as a springboard to examine the shaky integrity of our law enforcement and legal systems, which he has witnessed firsthand for nearly four decades.

Few serial killers in history have garnered as much attention as Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer. Although Dahmer killed 17 young men and boys, it was not so much the number of people he killed that makes him stand out among famous serial killers, but more so the acts of depravity that he committed on the corpses of his victims. In this true crime story, you will listen to how Dahmer transitioned from a loner to serial killer, committing numerous unnatural acts along the way such as necrophilia and cannibalism.

Publisher's summary
In his sixth book in the True Crime Series, John Summit thoroughly examines the origins of DNA and how advancements in DNA analysis around the world have propelled law enforcement and crime scene investigation into a new era.
DNA evidence, a mere 30 years following its initial and hesitant acceptance, has served as an incredibly powerful technique in identifying not only current criminals, but those who literally lived their lives believing they had gotten away with murder - only to have forensic science ultimately catch up with them.
You will be shocked and astonished as Mr. Summit takes you through some of the groundbreaking cases where DNA was able to assist law officials in capturing some of America's most prevalent and violent murderers. Some of the cases profiled are infamous, others you may never have heard of, but the criminals in this audiobook share one commonality - they were on the loose until those microscopic molecules known as DNA nabbed them for good.
Today, beneath the complexities of DNA collection and analysis, we can rest assured that it is the singular most beneficial way for scientists, the medical community, and government agencies to be able to identify a suspect using his or her unique genetic blueprint.
If you've never heard any of Mr. Summit's work in the prior volumes of his True Crime Series, this audiobook is a great place to start and is a real brain tweak.

Hard to Listen too!
I love audible and have been listening to audio books for years, usually while commuting to work or walking my dogs. This was the worst recording so far. In my opinion, the reader's voice was irritating to listen to. Also, the way that she emphasized words and phrases was bothersome. The information about the crimes and DNA was interesting, but difficult to listen to.

I couldn't finish the book
I'm not sure if the book was good or bad because I coulnd't finish the book. The narrator was so bad that I couldn't even stand to listen for 5 minutes of it. I wanted to give the 0 star if I could. She maybe good for fiction or some characters from novel but not for scientific book. She ruined it for me. I wasted my 1 credit for this one.
