Gareth’s sole bequest is an old family diary, which may or may not contain the secrets of his past...and the key to his future. The problem is - it’s written in Italian, of which Gareth speaks not a word. To Hyacinth, Gareth’s every word seems a dare, and she offers to translate his diary, even though her Italian is slightly less than perfect. But as they delve into the mysterious text, they discover that the answers they seek lie not in the diary, but in each other...and that there is nothing as simple - or as complicated - as a single, perfect kiss.

Okay book, not terrible, but not wonderful
Is there anything you would change about this book?
It was way too long. I had trouble listening to all 11 hours of it and found myself wishing it would be done about 4 hours earlier.
Would you recommend Noble Intentions to your friends? Why or why not?
No, I can't say that I would recommend this book. I found it to be unrealistic, and actually boring in some spots.
What does Alison Larkin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She did have a British accent, but that's about all the narrator added to this book.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No
Any additional comments?
There are other excellent historical romances out there. This one wasn't absolutely terrible, but there are so many others that are much better reads.

Reminds me of a great RomCom
If you have ever seen the old movie with the great Kathryn Hepburn and Cary Grant “Bringing Up Baby” this heroine will remind you of that wonderful naive madness. As perfect a use of the double entendre I’ve ever seen. The lover story was terrific between these two as our Hero tries to fight his attraction because of his old wounds, but can’t help himself and falls constantly and hard! The sex is steamy so don’t let the Hepburn/Grant comedy aspect mentioned earlier fool you. This book is a great blend of mad-cap comedy with great 1st and secondary characters full of heart, especially for the Earl’s troubled son, with the romance and steam of a true to the genre bodice ripper. Loved it.
One down side - narrator takes some getting used to. While she is good, her tone of voice is better suited for children’s books. Her male voices are disappointing

is there no quality control?
This narrator! The female protagonist is a 25-year-old, 5'10", brash American in the very rigid and convetional English ton (which is French and is pronounced more like "tawn" than "ton" as in of bricks). Yet, the narrator apparently decided that a high pitched, airy voice was what that woman would sound like. Seriously?
The story is flawed, an early Katie MacAlister that only serves to point out how far she has come. It is, yet, a rather charming story, but at every turn the narrator's chosen approach only serves to highlight the naivete of the writing. With a better narration, this would be an overall four, at least.
This first book by KM has all the appealing quirks of her writing style, in a good way. Her books are always romps and her heroes and heroines have the kicks in their gallops that make them very much fun to read. I am really pulling out all the stops on the cliches, aren't I? Suffice it to say, this book has going for it an early look at KM's brand of writing, interesting characters, lots of chuckles and a satisfying HEA.

Unexpectedly amusing book
When I first heard the narration I was going to return the book. But I am so glad I continued. Allison does an excellent job bringing the characters to life and the slap stick humor out in the story. What a fun listen! I loved all the names Katie wrote for the heroine to say about her husband. I have a terrible memory or I’d write a few. I’ll leave it for you to listen for during you enjoyment of this book.
