Publisher's summary

My name is Catarina. Or, that's who I was christened to be, anyways. I live in a convent. I am a nun in training. A postulant. I am 18 years old. I am a predator. No one is safe from me. I am protected. No one can get to me. By day one way, by night another. They call on me.

My name is Catarina. Codename: Night Fury. No one is safe from me. I will come for you.

Half a book full of teenage cringe

I was hoping for something along the lines of Buffy or a female Punisher or maybe V for Vandetta, but this was instead a teenage love triangle starring an 18 year old girl, her nerdy childhood friend and the bad boy newcomer. When her v card gets punched it’s all “yeah baby, take it” and “so wet” and the narrator’s overly loud moans. It was phenomenally bad.

There’s mere lip service to the nun-in-training-by-day, vigilante-killer-by-night plot, which is equally eye-rolling. One scene has her in a school girls outfit, in pigtails, admittedly getting turned on by a predator sticking his tongue down her throat. If there was satire, or paranormal camp, or clever dialogue,
maybe I could embrace the storyline. No such luck.

Add unneeded F bombs, plot twists you’ll see coming a mile away, and inconsistent characters, like a protective father figure who sets her up for hurt, and this was a muddled, cringey mess.
Finally, this is only half of a book, ending with a cliffhanger. I will not be purchasing the second half.
