Publisher's summary

Even the best Daddies can’t keep the storms of life away...but they’ll always try.

Morning News Anchor Neil Klein has loved being in love for nearly six months with the best kind of “Daddy” ever - his boyfriend and bodyguard, Brody Johnson. Sassy as ever, Neil keeps his man busy at work and even busier at home. And Brody wouldn’t have it any other way. Love has made both their lives complete. Seriously, things couldn’t be better.

Except their idyllic life is about to face its first storm...literally. A tropical El Niño storm is headed toward San Diego, but they’re prepared. A surprise visit from Brody’s family is tense but doable. The real storm cloud ruining their week is that Neil’s stalker appears to be at it again. Brody will have to be prepared for anything to keep Neil safe and happy during the worst week ever.

This is a 31,000-word novella, the second in the News Boy trilogy. Watch out for cranky old men, a little who’s really a middle, and a prudish dog who won’t let anyone have fun. You’ll probably catch yourself giggling out loud, but what else can you expect from a Susan Hawke book?

Enjoyable Sequel

Brody and Neil have a few new adventures set for them, this time in the form of family and an upcoming storm. In this cute second book of the News Boy Series, Neil gets to meet Brody’s family then be stuck in at home during a storm.

I enjoyed the follow up to News Boy, dare I say even more than the first, and I can’t wait for the third book to come out. Neil and Brody were open and honest with Brody’s dad, Jim. I found the interactions to be fun and interesting. Once I started, I couldn’t stop, and finished this book in one go.

Michael Dean does a great job of drawing you in and keeping you interested in the characters he brings to life.

Storm Front - great audio!

This novella had all the funny, humor, and charm you'd expect from a Susan Hawke listen. These characters are written and reformed so well, and it was nice to see an even deeper delve into who they are individually and together. I want more and more. Michael Dean did a fantastic job of bringing everything to life in a way only he can. Great audio!!

Love Neil and Brody

This story will have you smiling as you listen to Neil and Brody's life and the surprises that are in store for them. You will be pulled into the story and expect to see Neil on the news the next time you turn it on. The narration is incredible and every character has their own unique characteristics.

Neil and Brody are still wonderful!!!!

I absolutely loved this addition to the News Boy Trilogy!!! Brody's father is amazing and I love how the big storm is not actually the storm that comes in but dealing with life as their relationship progresses. I can't wait for the third book in this trilogy to come out. Susan Hawke writes stories that just keep me coming back time after time, I'm not sure she could write something that I wouldn't read and of course Michael Dean nailed the narration!!

Bring on the storm

This was a great follow up to News Boy, showing Brody and Neil somewhat settled, but with new challenges to face. I enjoyed the addition of some new characters as well as the mixing of family “storms” and a literal storm. So much fun and I can’t wait for the last installment in their trilogy! Michael Dean continues to do a fantastic job narrating the series.

Great follow up to book 1

Story 4.5 stars

Not a standalone. This is book 2 of 3 about the same couple. I love this couple. It was great to see more of them. It's short but complete. Even though a third book is coming, this one doesn't have a cliffhanger. I wasn't surprised at all who the "stranger"was.I called it from the start but I still really enjoyed the story.

Narrator 5+ stars

Michael Dean is my favorite narrator and not only did he not disappoint but he outdid himself on this one. He has a sexy voice, he keeps good pace, he does a great performance so u can hear all the emotions and he differentiated the characters voices and made them all suit each of the characters. The accents and female voices were great.

Neil, Brody and Pops

This second book in the News Boy Trilogy really let me see Neil and Brody a bit into their future and how their relationship has strengthened and changed. The age-play is still quite mild and all sexual contact is with Neil in Adult mode, so no worries. I liked that Brody is still protective of Neil in every facet of their life and having that safety ruffled puts him on high alert. I adored Brody's dad, Jim. The man is irreverent, rude, and has some antiquated ideas. He also amazed me with his acceptance of not only his gay son but of his lifestyle. Between the storms, of every variety, showing up in their life, Neil and Brody just pull together and grow stronger as a couple.

Audiobook: the narrator's take on the characters wasn't my favorite but he did a great job with clarity

Fun fast listen

If you're a fan of Hawke you know it's going to be a light fun story and she doesn't disappoint but what makes this great is the narration. Dean normally does a great job but this one for me he just made it that much better! I did not read/listen to the first in the series and I would recommend doing that though it didn't take too much away from this one.

Sweet and funny!

Loved book number two about Neal and his Daddy! The only complaint I have is advice about spanking from Neal's father in law. Not cool, Hawke! Keep the actual dad faaaar away from the bedroom, please!
