Publisher's Summary

New Self, New World challenges the primary story of what it means to be human, the random and materialistic lifestyle that author Philip Shepherd calls our "shattered reality". This reality encourages us to live in our heads, self-absorbed in our own anxieties. Drawing on diverse sources and inspiration, New Self, New World reveals that our state of head-consciousness falsely teaches us to see the body as something we possess and to try to take care of it without ever really learning how to inhabit it. Shepherd articulates his vision of a world in which each of us enjoys a direct, unmediated experience of being alive. He petitions against the futile pursuit of the "known self" and instead reveals the simple grace of just being present.

In compelling prose, Shepherd asks us to surrender to the reality of "what is" that enables us to reunite with our own being. Each chapter is accompanied by exercises meant to bring Shepherd's vision into daily life, what the author calls a practice that "facilitates the voluntary sabotage of long-standing patterns". New Self, New World is at once a philosophical primer, a spiritual handbook, and a roaming inquiry into human history.

Deep dive into our embodied human experience

If you are interested in Philip Shepherd’s work, I suggest Radical Wholeness first. This book is a longer, deeper dive into the same material. A sustained meditation into the immense importance of embodiment and presence.

This book is a delightful, insightful presentation

...of paradigm/construct/perception challenging ideas that rings true, the information strikes a recognition chord in my soul that the b.s. construct I've been fed growing up in America has never imparted. I'm very grateful for this material. I will be recommending it to everybody. The tambre of voice is especially pleasant to me, too.

True

As I experienced life in a tent and through prayer. I found alot of what is said here to be true.
Without a phone at times, somehow being connected to what is, we can find a way.

Excellent way to describe the several dimensions in which we live. I am so grateful that someome who has lived more, traveled more and had more life experience was able to pull it all together and put it in a book!

Meister Eckhart Tolle great place to start...

I got lost in some of it and will probably listen again. We know how our brains get distracted!

Much Peace to you! Namaste~

Clearly explained

Though the ideas and concepts in this book are abundant and In many cases complex the author brings these ideas into focus by clearly and patiently offering explanations that are completely accessible. This book deserves several readings.

Your New Self Is Boring.

This book is slow as can be!! It’s about the balancing of masculine and feminine energy within every individual. However it moves at the pace of a snail and puts me to sleep. I stopped listening and deleted it from my collection. Do not waste time or your money on this trash.

Magnificent

A beautiful, poetic, learned, passionate and challenging piece of work. It revealed the pathological influences of our prevailing culture to me in a way no other book has managed, and set fire to many deeply held assumptions. It shook me to the core and I'm not sure I shall ever recover. I hope I never do. A masterpiece.

Beyond brilliant, human highest potential.

Any words I can share, only fail to express the profound gift of sacred life described within this book. All I can say is I am so humbled and grateful to have stumbled across such an incredible and masterful piece of this man's life's work. His whole being, heart and soul has gone into traversing, opening, exploring, experiencing, integrating and somehow mapping and articulating so precisely the divine grace that is possible for each of us as and within our mother planet. Thank you Philip Shepherd, deeply healing, deeply profound and deeply inspiring.

Life changing

This book is a journey into humanity. It draws cross culturally, historically and across many disciplines. I have no idea how long this would have taken to write. I am implementing his inquiries into my life and work. Stunning, I feel like I am waking up.
