Publisher's summary

Get smarter in just 60 minutes with in60Learning. Concise and elegantly written nonfiction audiobooks help you learn the core subject matter in 20 percent of the time it takes to listen to a typical audiobook. Life is short, so explore a multitude of fascinating historical, biographical, scientific, political, and financial topics in only an hour each.

Nero Claudius Caesar holds a reputation as a tyrant, a maniacal leader. Some say he may have suffered from lead poisoning and gone mad, but most historical sources quickly dismiss this excuse for his cruelty. Various historical accounts record that Nero had his own mother killed, persecuted Christians, and ordered the setting of Rome’s Great Fire.

While many debate what is fact and what is fiction, the last ruler of the Julio-Claudian dynasty is certainly one of the most infamous leaders of the Roman Empire.

This brief history explores what we know about the man behind the myth and the monster within the man.

Another Great Book from in60Learning

I really enjoy these hour (or about an hour) long educational audiobooks. This is my fourth one from in60Learning and again I am not disappointed.

I did not know much about Nero Claudius prior to listening to this book, but what a crazy guy who is associated with tyranny and extravagance and known as the first Roman Emperor to commit suicide. I am always amazed at how someone can become so deranged and delusional with no thoughts of how their actions affect other.

Keep up the great job on your in60Learning series

This guy was even worse than Trump!

If you want to know what a real tyrant looks like, look no further than Nero Claudius Caesar. This guy actually did stuff as bad as CNN is pretending that our president is doing. No matter which side of the aisle you are on, this guy makes both Obama and Trump look pretty good. Hillary might have come close, but we narrowly escaped that! I’m wondering who is going to run against the Oprah/Nero ticket in 2020.

Enough of that. This was a good introduction to one of ancient history’s bad boys. The content was organized well and the narrator did a fantastic job.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
